The Buddies took the lead early on at the Tony Macaroni Arena before Livi captain Craig Halkett headed an equaliser on 15 minutes.
Saints were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Gary Irvine was shown a straight red card.
But the Buddies battled back from that set back with Gavin Reilly netting a second half double to secure the three points.
