The St Mirren U20s had to settle for a point last night as they drew 2-2 with Falkirk in the SPFL Development League.
The Buddies took an early lead when Gregor Buchanan headed Jordan Kirkpatrick's corner into the path of Dylan McKendry who nodded home.
Saints doubled their lead in the second half when a long pass caught out the Falkirk defence. Cameron MacPherson was quickest to react as he slid the ball under the legs of Falkirk keeper Robbie Mutch.
The home side got themselves back into the match when Scott Shepherd reduced the deficit on 78 minutes as he broke away from the Saints defence to lash the ball home.
And with time nearly up, the young Bairns grabbed themselves an equaliser when Saints goalkeeper Ross Stewart failed to gather Conor Langton's low effort with the ball spilling into the net.
It's cup action next for the young Buddies as they face Heriot Watt-University in the second round of the SFA Youth Cup at the Excelsior Stadium on Friday night at 7pm.
