Craig Samson to be inducted into St Mirren Hall of Fame

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce that Craig Samson will be inducted into the St Mirren Hall of Fame by club sponsors Skyview Capital at the end of season awards dinner.

Sammy, who had two spells with Saints and was a part of the League Cup & Championship winning teams, becomes the fourth and final member of the class of 2019.

Signed from Ayr United in 2010, Sammy made 104 appearances in his first spell at the club. During his three-year stint, the goalkeeper kept 29 clean sheets and played a huge part in the club’s League Cup triumph in March 2013. His impressive form during his time at Saints earned him a call up to the Scotland national squad.

Samson departed the club in the summer of 2013 to join Kilmarnock. After a spell with the Ayrshire side and Motherwell, he returned to Paisley to re-join Saints in the summer of 2017.

It was another successful stint for Sammy at Saints as he broke the record for consecutive clean sheets at home after accumulating eight clean sheets in a row between December 2017 and April 2018. That run coincided with the Buddies winning the Ladbrokes Championship and sealing a return to the Ladbrokes Premiership.

In November 2018, Sammy retired from playing to take up the position of goalkeeping coach at English League One side Sunderland AFC. It brought to an end a St Mirren career that saw him play 162 times for Saints keeping 48 clean sheets.

Craig will join Willie Telfer, Cammy Murray and John Potter in the St Mirren Hall of Fame Class of 2019.

Taking place on Friday 24th May 2019, at the Normandy Hotel, Renfrew the awards dinner has once again been kindly sponsored by our friends Walker Laird Solicitors & Estate Agents.

Spend an evening in the company of the St Mirren first team, management and coaching staff at what is Renfrewshire’s premier social gathering.

Prepare to laugh the night away thanks to former Motherwell and, yes, Morton winger John Gahagan - undoubtedly the best after dinner speaker in Scotland.
