Connor Ronan is honoured to have received his first senior call-up for the Republic of Ireland ahead of their upcoming internationals against Belgium and Lithuania.
The 24-year-old has been incredible form for Saints this season - netting eight goals from midfield since joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August.
It's been that form that caught the eye of Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny who was in attendance when Connor scored the only goal in our win against Hibernian at Easter Road last month.
He becomes the second player to have been called up for Ireland while with St Mirren this season after Jamie McGrath - now at Wigan Athletic - had been named in previous squads.
And the midfielder admits that was something that enticed him to make the move to Saints in August.
After seeing what Jamie [McGrath] had achieved the season before, and how that got him into the Ireland squad, played a big part in my decision coming to St Mirren," he said speaking to stmirren.com.
"It has always been on the back of my mind when I have been on loan spells to Switzerland last season and here.
"It's something that I have been working towards since I’ve left playing for the U21s.
"I'm really looking forward to the full training camp in general - getting in with the lads, getting to know everyone and then the games are just there to top it off.
"I think it is the same for any new player, you want to go in and prove yourself that you are worthy of being there which is what I will go in and try do."
Connor celebrates after scoring his first St Mirren goal against Aberdeen back in September.
Connor reserved special praise for his family who have continuously travelled to Scotland to support him during his time at Saints.
Along with my partner's family, they are coming up and down a lot.
"I had family up for Saturday's match and I am sure there will be a lot of them going over to Dublin.
"It's massive honour and a really proud moment for me and my family."
