St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce that Keith Lasley will join the club as Chief Operating Officer in mid-May ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Keith takes on the newly created role following the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Tony Fitzpatrick last month and will be responsible for managing all Club operations as well as assisting the board in setting the overall vision and strategy moving forward.
A well-known face in Scottish football, Keith enjoyed a distinguished playing career in which he made almost 500 appearances for Motherwell as well as having spells in England with Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool.
Before joining Motherwell as a 19-year-old, Keith had played for Paisley side Gleniffer Thistle.
After retiring as a player in 2017, Keith took on the role of Assistant Manager at the Steelmen and is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Sports Directorship.
Keith commented: "I have always been ambitious and driven throughout my football career.
"To prepare for the next phase of my leadership career in football I am currently undertaking a Masters of Sport Directorship at Manchester Metropolitan University. St Mirren, my hometown team, have provided me with an incredible opportunity to realise my ambitions in the role of Chief Operating Officer.
"My on-the-job experience at Motherwell and academic learning have provided me with the skills to be a success in this role and be part of the leadership that will drive St Mirren forward and fulfil the massive potential this club has.
"Having being part of a fan-owned club, which sits at the heart of the community and has set high standards in how to operate, both on and off the park, I look forward to bringing my positive experiences to generate further fans and strengthen community engagement. I believe these are essential components to the success of St Mirren.
"I am excited to be working alongside the St Mirren board and staff in delivering a progressive vision for St Mirren Football Club."
St Mirren Chairman John Needham said: "I am absolutely delighted with this appointment to one of the key positions at the Club.
"We received a large number of applications for the role and Keith was selected from a very strong shortlist.
"He is currently studying for a Masters degree and is ambitious to forge a career in high level management in football. Also his wide experience at Motherwell, another fan-owned Club, means he is a great fit for us.
"I’m really looking forward to working with Keith and know he will bring great energy and insight to the Club."
