St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Alebiosu on loan until the end of the season subject to international clearance.
The 23-year-old right-sided defender joins Saints for the remainder of the campaign from Belgian Pro League side K.V. Kortrijk.
The Englishman began his career with Arsenal, turning professional at the Gunners in 2020. Ryan spent a portion of the 2021/22 season on loan at Crewe Alexandra where he made six appearances in English League One.
Ryan would then gain experience of Scottish football during season 2022/23 when he joined Kilmarnock on a season-long loan. Ryan made 29 appearances across all competitions during his time at Rugby Park.
Following his departure from Arsenal, the defender moved to Belgium to join K.V. Kortrijk in September 2023 and has featured 25 times for De Kerels, including 13 times in the Jupiler Pro League this season.
Manager Stephen Robinson said: "It’s important that we got someone in at the right-side of the pitch.
"Elvis Bwomono is very good defensively, but in some games, we may need a player who is more like a winger and Ryan can bring us that.
"We tried to get him previously when he was at Arsenal. It’s a chance for him to put himself in the shop window and for us to benefit from a different type of right-sided player in certain games.
"He has experienced the league before. It was important to get someone who knows the league. It can be a shock to people’s system sometimes and it can surprise people. Ryan has experienced it before with Kilmarnock and he went abroad for a different experience.
He’s got electric pace and an end product in terms of crosses. It’s a move that strengthens the squad and allows us to hopefully put young Callum Penman out on loan to gain valuable experience for next season."
We thank K.V. Kortrijk for their assistance in making this loan move possible. Ryan is expected to arrive in Scotland later this evening and will join up with his Saints teammates tomorrow.
