SMiSA Manager Q&A

New St Mirren management duo Jim Goodwin and Lee Sharp will discuss their plans with supporters at a special SMISA-run Meet the Manager night next week.

The Q&A event will take place on Thursday 15 August in the hospitality suite at the Simple Digital Arena and will also see Jim and Lee welcomed into the Trust as honorary members as we continue on the road towards majority fan ownership.

Jim is looking forward to what he hopes will be a regular meeting with the supporters and thanked SMISA for inducting him and his assistant and for their ongoing work.

He said: "It’s a fantastic honour for both Lee and me to be inducted as honorary members. What SMISA have done for the club is quite incredible and it’s a great organisation. They’re a group of people who are extremely passionate about the club and desperate for success. And hopefully Lee and I can deliver that for all them and all our supporters.

"I’m looking forward to speaking with the fans on the night. I’ve done similar things before as club captain and I’d love to have regular meetings with the supporters as I think it’s really important.

"That level of interaction always has to be there at any club. There can’t be any division between the club, from board level, through the manager, the staff, the players, the youth academy and the fans as well. We’re all in it together. So I look forward to meeting the supporters and answering their questions on the night.”

The event is free and open to all St Mirren fans but due to the capacity of the venue, places must be booked in advance via Eventbrite link here and will be first-come, first-served.

Please note that due to the terms of the club's licence, the event is for over-18s only. Doors will open on the night from 6.30pm, and the event will start at 7pm.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

  • Getting to the SMiSA Stadium

    BY ROAD

Follow signs for Paisley & Glasgow Airport. Exit the M8 at Junction 29 (St James’ Interchange) which is just after Glasgow Airport turn off if travelling east to west. Be careful not to exit on to the A737 which is signposted for Irvine. It is best to stay in the middle lane when passing the Airport as this leads naturally to the St James’ Interchange exit.

At the interchange take the first left onto a dual carriageway with some football parks on the left hand side. Follow this road and after a sharp right hand bend you should now be in Greenock Road. Then take your first right on to Clark Street and drive to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the stadium on the opposite side of the road.

    BY RAIL

Get train from Paisley Gilmour Street to Paisley St James – exit from the station is straight onto Greenhill Road where the stadium is facing you. To plan your journey by rail with Scotrail please click HERE.

    BY BUS

Most buses will stop at Paisley Cross or Mill Street, from both you will see the Paisley Town Hall. From the Town Hall cross the High Street towards the Piazza Shopping Centre, when acoss walk towards the town centre until you come to Gilmour Street. Turn right on to Gilmour Street and walk towards the railway station which is about 150 yards away. From there you can get train to Paisley St James or if you prefer to walk the following routes are advised by the police:

Home fans: cross road to the left on to St James Street – follow through up Underwood Road then turn right at Greenhill Road where stadium is 200 yards further along the road. Access to the Main Stand is from Greenhill Road and the South and West Stands will be accessed from Drums Avenue.

Away fans: cross road to Love Street continue up the street till you come to Albion Street where you will turn left. Follow Albion Street until you come to the junction with Greenock Road where you will turn right. Cross the road then walk about 200 yards before taking your first left on to Clark Street. Walk straight up Clark Street to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the the stadium on the opposite side of the road. Match Report: Hibernian 1-0 St Mirren

A late Scott Allan goal denied battling Buddies a point away to Hibernian on the opening day of the 2019/20 season.

Jim Goodwin's side had plenty of chances and looked worthy of a point before a piece of individual brilliance from Allan gave the Hibees all three points.

The manager gave starting debuts to Sean McLoughlin, Sam Foley and Ilkay Durmus - all of whom signed for Saints this week.

The Buddies started the contest brightly with Kyle Magennis, captain in the absence of Stephen McGinn, playing a nice ball across the box in the third minute where both Ilkay Durmus and Danny Mullen were waiting. But the pair ended up getting in each others way allowing Hibs to clear.

Stevie Mallan had the game's first shot on goal on five minutes. The ex-Saint was a whisker away from scoring the opener with his powerful effort from the edge of the area flying just over Vaclav Hladky's crossbar.

Debutant Durmus was looking lively for the Buddies down the left-hand side. A quick counter for Saints saw the Turkish winger bear down on goal but his cross-cum-shot was held by Ofir Marciano.

Sam Foley tried to catch the big Israeli goalkeeper out when Saints won possession deep in the Hibees half. The midfielder attempted to catch the goalkeeper off his line but couldn't connect with it properly making it easy for Marciano to gather.

The Buddies were having a good spell and could have been ahead on 27 minutes when Tony Andreu's lovely through ball found Paul McGinn through on goal. Steven Whittaker was quick to get across to block McGinn's attempt.

Four minutes later, Durmus forced Marciano into a wonderful stop with the goalkeeper getting a strong hand on the winger's vicious strike from the left.

Hibernian were still very much in the match and could have taken the lead on 34 minutes when Horgan's low ball into the box had Hladky's beaten and looked primed to meet Florian Kamberi who was ready to tap home. But Gary MacKenzie did well to get in-front to knock the ball wide.

Durmus had a terrific chance to open the scoring just a few minutes before half-time. The winger was found in space inside the box by Foley and took a touch to steady himself before smashing his effort over the bar. Durmus had his head in his hands afterwards realising how good an opportunity it was.

The home side looked to take charge of the game in the early part of the second half and thought they had taken the lead on 52 minutes. Scott Allan had Hladky beaten with his curling effort, but the shot cracked off the inside of the post. The Hibees kept coming and had the ball in the net seconds later only to be denied by the offside flag. Joe Newell's header came off the same post as Allan's shot and fell to Kamberi who touched home. The far side linesman's flag curtailed the celebrations though subsequent pictures showed that the Swiss forward was actually onside.

Saints were still creating chances with Andreu going close when received the ball from debutant Jonathan Obika 25 yards from goal. The Frenchman took it first time from on his left foot, drilling towards the top corner with Marciano clawing away to keep the score level.

With 10 minutes to go Sean McLoughlin had a great opportunity to put Saints in the lead when he ghosted in at the back post to meet Oan Djorkaeff's corner but nodded wide of the mark.

There was a scare for the Buddies when Stevie Mallan lined up a free-kick 25 yards from goal. St Mirren fans know what Mallan is capable of from that kind of range and having scored twice at Easter Road for Saints from free-kicks in the past there was the fear he was about to put his current side in front. The midfielder went for a low curling effort that was easy enough for Hladky to gather.

Hibernian would, however, take the lead just a minute later when Scott Allan danced his way into the St Mirren box and lashed beyond Hladky to break the deadlock.

Far from being down and out, Saints had two late chances to snatch an equaliser with Flynn heading wide from a MacPherson free-kick and debutant Obika flicking over the bar.

It wasn't to be on the opening day but Jim Goodwin will have taken plenty of encouragement from the performance of his players heading into next week's match against Aberdeen.
