Up Next: St Mirren v Aberdeen (24th Dec)

It's our final home game of 2022 as Stephen Robinson's side get set to host Aberdeen at the SMiSA Stadium on Christmas Eve.

It'll be Saints' first game back since the World Cup break after Saturday's scheduled match against Motherwell was postponed. It's also our first Christmas Eve match at the SMiSA Stadium since a famous 2-1 win over Rangers back in 2011.

Aberdeen, meanwhile, have played two matches since returning from the break - losing to Celtic and Rangers at Pittodrie.

A late goal saw Jim Goodwin's side lose 1-0 to Celtic on Saturday, but Tuesday's defeat to Rangers would arguably have been even sorer for the Dons with two goals conceded deep into injury time that saw them lose 3-2.

Despite those two losses Aberdeen remain in third place in the cinch Premiership on 25 points.

Previous

Saints are unbeaten in their last four home matches in all competitions against the Dons stretching back to February 2020.

You have to go back to December 2018 for the last time Aberdeen defeated St Mirren at the SMiSA Stadium in league action. In the five league matches at the SMiSA Stadium since, Saints have won three and drawn two.

The Buddies were victorious in both meetings with the Dons at home last season - winning 3-2 in September 2021 and 1-0 in January of this year.

Aberdeen ran out 4-1 winners at Pittodrie in August in the only meeting of the two this season. Despite a bright start from Stephen Robinson's side an early red card for Declan Gallagher made it an uphill struggle for Saints.

The officials

Nick Walsh is the referee on Saturday and he'll be assisted by Daniel McFarlane and Gordon McCabe. Barry Cook is the fourth official.
