Kyle McAllister was on cloud nine last night after scoring his first senior goal for St Mirren in the 5-1 win over Spartans in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup.
The young winger put the Saints 3-0 up heading into half time with a magnificent solo and the 17 year-old admitted that it felt great to get his first senior goal.
It felt amazing - best feeling ever," he explained. "I had a feeling before the game that it was going to come today and it did in a good way.
"When I was running I felt as if there was no defenders there and I could just keep going with it as if they were backing off. When I got to the edge of the box they kept backing off so I took a touch out wide and then hit it. But I can't actually remember it going in because I fell, so I've not actually saw it hit the net then I just heard the crowd."
Kyle has impressed since coming into the team and was a stand out again last night - not only scoring - but setting up Lawrence Shankland's first goal with a fantastic through ball.
I thought I was okay," he said. "I was looking to play as many through balls as I could and try to get as many goals as we could. Some of them didn't work, but the one for Lawrence did and I just kept trying. But I thought I played well. I could've done a bit better with my end product but I thought I did well.
It's amazing that he [Jack Ross] is trusting me and Kyle Magennis - young boys. But i just need to keep playing as well as I'm doing and hopefully kick on from there."
With a trip to face Dundee at Dens Park in the 4th Round coming up in January, Kyle says he's excited about getting the chance to test himself against a team playing in the top league.
I'm looking forward to it, playing against better players and seeing how I do against them."
