Scott Gallacher: Hope To Kick On

Goalkeeper Scott Gallacher heaped praise on goalkeeping coach Jamie Langfield and the manager Jack Ross after arguably his best performance in a St Mirren shirt in the 1-0 win over Raith Rovers on Saturday.

The 27 year-old was in top form as he made a number of saves to help Saints keep their first clean sheet in the league this season and secure their first home league win of the 2016/17 campaign.

Speaking to stmirren.com, Gallacher admitted that he knew there had been a lot of talk about how The Buddies hadn't kept a clean sheet since the 3-0 win over Edinburgh City in the Betfred Cup in July.

It was a great feeling," he said. "The pressure we've been under the last few weeks, apart from during the week there which was immense, obviously people have been saying it's a long time since we've had a clean sheet. I'm well chuffed for all the lads as well because it's a team game.

"We train hard every week to try and keep a clean sheet. We all train hard and Jamie [Langfield] has been training me well - he's different class. The manager has come in and done really well and touch wood the results have changed and hopefully we'll just kick on from here.

Gallacher has established himself as number one under Jack Ross and admits the faith shown in him has helped his belief.

It gives me a lot of confidence," he explained. "He's always been a great guy with me, he's always been upfront and honest with everybody. He's a great manager and I think everybody is buying into what he wants to do as well."

The goalkeeper was pleased with his performance but also took time to applaud the defence in front of him.

I thought I did well," he continued. "They were trying to hit us in behind the two centre halves so a lot was focused on my positioning, but I thought I was pretty comfortable with that and I think the defence were different class. They won every single header and didn't let anything go through them and even if it did I was there to sweep up.

"It just puts the icing on the cake. We do work hard and we try everything in every single department to try and get better and I think it's paying off for us just now and hopefully it continues."
