Sean McLoughlin returns to Hull City

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Sean McLoughlin has left the Buddies to return to his parent club, Hull City following the expiry of his loan deal.

Sean became a key player in his time at the Buddies making 21 appearances and scoring in a 2-1 win over Ross County in November.

Reaction: Jim Goodwin Post-Kilmarnock

A delighted Jim Goodwin gives his reaction as Saints end the decade on a high with a win over Kilmarnock.

Match Report: St Mirren 1-0 Kilmarnock

Saints finished the decade just as they'd started it – with a 1-0 home win over Kilmarnock.

This time round it was Ilkay Durmus rather than Chris Innes who got the winner, the winger sending a sweet first half shot past Laurentiu Branescu after a brilliant pass from Tony Andreu.

In truth the winning margin should have been greater as only a tremendous save from the Killie goalie stopped Andreu getting a second after the break with Cammy MacPherson, Junior Morias and Jon Obika also going close.

Andreu was back in Jim Goodwin's team at the expense of Calum Waters, who wasn't allowed out to play against his parent club. His absence meant Sam Foley moved into the centre of defence with Paul McGinn going to leftback.

Saints had an early shout for a penalty turned down after a Killie player's arm appeared to get in the way of Sean McLoughlin's effort from a corner. Liam Millar was inches away from connecting with Nicholas Hamalainen's fine ball across the Saints goal before Vaclav Hladky was tested for the first time, palming away a fierce shot from Brophy.

Durmus was enjoying lots of space on the Saints left and, moments after he saw Jon Obika head over from his cross, he put Saints in front in fine style. Andreu slipped a brilliant pass through to the winger and he strode onto the ball and drilled it first time into the bottom corner. It was a deserved lead and the hosts sensed the chance to extend it as Andreu sclaffed a shot wide, a camera man at the back of the family stand then having to take evasive action as Brophy tried to draw Killie level.

Andreu nearly claimed a second assist as he gathered in the ball then released Obika, the big striker narrowly failing to find the top corner from the edge of the box. Kyle Magennis was slightly closer to finding the same corner when he had a go from miles out, his dipping shot skimming the roof of the net.

A Chris Burke free-kick early in the second half caused a bit of uncertainty in the makeshift Saints defence, Hladky eventually saving as Brophy and sub Osman Sow tried to force it in. The Buddies won a free-kick of their own when Gary Dicker was booked for fouling Durmus, Branescu doing well to hold on to MacPherson's hit. Sow had the ball in the net at the other end after getting onto the end of Millar's pass but the whistle had long gone for offside.

As Killie appealed in vain for a penalty for a possible handball by MacPherson, Saints raced forward and almost grabbed their second. Morias picked up the ball out wide and cut inside, only to be tackled just as he got ready to shoot, the loose ball falling to Durmus who sent a spectacular shot just over the bar. The former Turkish youth international turned provider next time around, picking out the unmarked Andreu whose header was superbly turned away by Branescu. The resultant corner was cleared out to Durmus at the edge of the box and his volley flew just wide.

Another great chance came as Saints broke on the counter, Obika releasing the ball as both MacPherson and Durmus charged through the middle. The pair pretty much ran into each other before the former took possession, however his shot was blocked by Iain Wilson. Branescu saved from Morias as the Buddies continued to push, Alex Bruce and Kyle Magennis both going into the book after a bit of handbags that saw the majority of the players rushing to get involved.

Hladky did well to punch away Sow's hooked effort at a corner as the Killie fans behind the goal claimed for a foul for some penalty box shenanigans. As the Buddies looked for a second, Morias shot wide before Obika twice went close, seeing one shot saved by Branescu and another hit the side netting. There is always a worry that when you're on top and can't convert your chances you'll be made to pay for it but that rarely looked like being the case on this occasion as the Buddies rounded off the 2010s with a well deserved three points.

Match Preview: St Mirren v Kilmarnock (29th Dec)

The decade comes to a close for St Mirren tomorrow afternoon as the Buddies host Kilmarnock at the Simple Digital Arena.

FORM

St Mirren - LDDWLL

Kilmarnock - LLLLDD

Saints come into tomorrow's match on the back of a narrow loss to Celtic on Boxing Day. Cammy MacPherson's 89th minute free-kick came too late for The Buddies after first-half goals from Callum McGregor and James Forrest had Celtic ahead.

Managerless Kilmarnock sit in sixth place in the Ladbrokes Premiership with 23 points from 20 matches. But the Ayrshire side have lost four on the bounce heading into tomorrow's match, including a 1-0 loss against Rangers on Boxing Day, and have failed to win in any of their last six matches.

A poor run of form, culminating with a 1-0 loss away to Ross County earlier this month, saw Angelo Alessio leave the club with assistant manager Alex Dyer taking over as caretaker.

Killie's last win came back in November when they defeated Hearts 3-0 at Rugby Park. Ironically, Hearts were also the opponents when Killie picked up their last win on the road back in October.

PREVIOUS

Kilmarnock edged Saints out at Rugby Park in October in the only meeting of the two so far this season.

Despite a strong showing from Saints, Gary Dicker headed home with less than 10 minutes remaining to give Killie a 1-0 win.

St Mirren lost all three league encounters against Kilmarnock last season losing 2-1 on two occasions and 1-0 on the other.

The Buddies last league win over Killie was back in April 2015 with Saints running out 4-1 winners at the Simple Digital Arena.

TEAM NEWS

Kirk Broadfoot, Gary MacKenzie and Kyle McAllister are all still out for Saints while Calum Waters can't feature against his parent club.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS

"Kilmarnock are a decent side. They have some good players in the forward areas, they've got some good experience throughout their team and we know it's going to be an extremely difficult game.

"Mr Alessio has lost his job and Alex Dyer has come in and taken over. I suppose Alex will probably go back to doing things the way Steve Clarke did and rightly so as it was very successful for them over the last couple of seasons.

"I think Kilmarnock will bring a good support with them and hopefully our own people will turn out in good numbers as well and fingers crossed we can give them a good win to finish 2019 off."

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

  • Getting to the SMiSA Stadium

    BY ROAD

Follow signs for Paisley & Glasgow Airport. Exit the M8 at Junction 29 (St James’ Interchange) which is just after Glasgow Airport turn off if travelling east to west. Be careful not to exit on to the A737 which is signposted for Irvine. It is best to stay in the middle lane when passing the Airport as this leads naturally to the St James’ Interchange exit.

At the interchange take the first left onto a dual carriageway with some football parks on the left hand side. From there you can get train to Paisley St James or if you prefer to walk the following routes are advised by the police:
