Bung a Baw: Falkirk (5th Aug)

Paisley Panda is all set for Saturday’s match against Falkirk as the ever-popular match day competition ‘Bung a Baw’ makes its return tomorrow.

To take part in ‘Bung a Baw’ fans need to purchase a small foam ball which is numbered and they will then have a chance to throw their ball towards our club mascot Paisley Panda in front of the Family Stand. Each person will have 60 seconds to do this and the winner will be the person who has thrown the ball closest to the feet of the Panda with the winner being confirmed over the PA system.

The competition is sponsored by The Linwood Farm Restaurant who are supplying a family meal voucher as the prize for the contest winner.

Each ball will cost £1 to buy. The balls will be available from sellers inside the Family Stand in the 30 minutes leading up to kick-off and then again in the first 5 minutes of half-time before the competition starts (subject to availability). Each ball is numbered and participants will also get a ticket with the corresponding number which they will use to claim the prize if they win.

Paisley Panda predicts that ‘Bung a Baw’ will continue to be very popular this season so he advises that you get in early tomorrow to purchase your ball to take part.

As well as taking care of ‘Bung a Baw’ Paisley Panda will be giving away sweets to the kids in and around the stadium courtesy of the Black and White Army website.

Paisley Panda has also teamed up with the St Mirren Club Shop so you will be able to buy hats and scarves for the game from the 'Bung a Baw' stands.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

  • Getting to the SMiSA Stadium

    BY ROAD

Follow signs for Paisley & Glasgow Airport. Exit the M8 at Junction 29 (St James’ Interchange) which is just after Glasgow Airport turn off if travelling east to west. Be careful not to exit on to the A737 which is signposted for Irvine. It is best to stay in the middle lane when passing the Airport as this leads naturally to the St James’ Interchange exit.

At the interchange take the first left onto a dual carriageway with some football parks on the left hand side. Follow this road and after a sharp right hand bend you should now be in Greenock Road. Then take your first right on to Clark Street and drive to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the stadium on the opposite side of the road.

From there you can get train to Paisley St James or if you prefer to walk the following routes are advised by the police:

Rocco Quinn leaves St Mirren

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of Rocco Quinn.

The midfielder joined the Buddies in January 2016 after leaving Ladbrokes Premiership side Ross County.

He went on to make 32 appearances for the Saints - scoring one goal in a 2-2 draw with Hibernian in April 2016.

The club would like to wish Rocco all the best for his future career.

Jack Ross: Happy to have Harry back

Jack Ross admits he is delighted to have Harry Davis back at St Mirren.

The manager was speaking to stmirren.com yesterday after the defender signed a permanent deal with the club following a successful loan spell last season.

Davis would only make nine appearances in his brief stint with the side, but impressed with his quality in defence along with his goal-scoring threat.

The gaffer confessed that he wasn't sure he was going to be able to bring the 25 year-old back, but is happy that the hard work to get him in has paid off.

We're really pleased," the manager said.

"He's someone I remained in contact with and was always keen to try to get him back to the club.

"I thought it was going to be unlikely that we got him back. However, we've worked really hard at it.

"What was in our favour was how much he enjoyed his time here - not just at the club, but I think he and his family enjoyed living here.

"So I'm really pleased he is on board and looking forward to him getting back to full fitness."

Davis' season ended in March last season when he picked up a knee injury in a 3-2 win over Dundee United at the Paisley 2021 Stadium.

And while he's still not fully fit the manager said it was a move they have carefully considered.

I think there is an element of risk with every signing whether they are fit or injured," he said. "I understand there will be supporters who will question the wisdom of that.

"We balance that up by saying a player of his calibre will be fit in say a month or so and the season is over a ten month period.

"For me it was a weighing up of all the circumstances and saying that is worth it for us. He's edging closer to full fitness. He'll be back soon and once he is back he'll be a big player for us.

"I don't think under normal circumstances we would have had a chance of getting him.

"He has a good pedigree in terms of the number of games he's played in England.

"Even when we managed to get him in January there was interest from Scottish Premiership clubs and we sold it that he would have his chance to put himself in the window for them. I know from the people I speak to in the Premiership that he probably would have had that opportunity had he not picked up the injury.

"There are circumstances that allowed us the opportunity to get him to play in the Championship so you have to balance that up. We've made a balanced decision on it."
