West Stand Sales update

When season tickets went on sale just over a week ago we announced that if we achieve 1000 Adult/Concession season ticket holders in the West stand, the Club would guarantee that the whole stand will be for St Mirren fans, with the exception of Cup games, where it may need to be segregated.

We have been delighted with the response and are already over a third of the way past our target with 353 tickets sold in the West Stand.

We'd like to thank supporters for the loyalty they have shown ahead of the new season.

Those wishing to purchase a season ticket can still do so at early bird prices right until July 2nd.

Jack Ross happy with business done so far

Jack Ross says he is happy with the business done for next season so far.

The Buddies manager completed the signings of Ross Stewart and Jordan Kirkpatrick yesterday with Young Player of the Year, Kyle Magennis, also signing a new three-year deal with the club.

Meanwhile, earlier on in the week, Gary MacKenzie and Cammy Smith joined the likes of Stephen McGinn, Adam Eckersley, Jack Baird and Josh Todd in committing their immediate future to the Saints.

It's been a busy time for the gaffer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion to the Ladbrokes Premiership.

And he confessed that while there is still work to do, he is satisfied with what has been done to this point.

I'm pleased we have managed to do as much as we have done already," he told stmirren.com.

"There are other areas we still need to get players in but at this stage are we in a good position? Yeah. Will it become stronger? Yeah, we still have scope to do that. I'm happy with what we have done at the moment.

"James [Fowler] and I spent a lot of time looking at players prior to the season ending and how we try and build the squad.

"We wanted to bring in three or four that fit the category that can help us, are good players, but also have good potential and Ross fits into that category. He's in his early 20s, he's gained experience of first team football for the last couple of years at Albion Rovers.

"For me, having watched him a lot personally and having other people watch him, he's a goalkeeper with huge potential.

"I'm delighted he has committed to coming to the club and I do think he is someone who can grow as a goalkeeper here."

The manager worked with Jordan Kirkpatrick at both Dumbarton and Alloa and believes he has the ability to make an impact with the Saints.

I signed Jordan at the start of last season [with Alloa]," he said. "He's someone I had worked with before at Dumbarton and actually played with.

"Jordan was at Hamilton when he was young and played in the first team there. He was identified as the one who would follow the two James' [McCarthy and McArthur], but he kind of lost his way a wee bit.

"He came to Dumbarton while I was there as assistant and played really well. He came to Alloa and was terrific in my period there. I think over the season he scored 17 goals from midfield which is a brilliant return.

"He is a really good player," he continued. "He most definitely has the ability to play at a higher level, it's just getting it out of him consistently. He's a good age now where he has a real hunger to get back to that level he was at with Hamilton in the Premiership.

"I'm delighted and he gives us that attacking threat from midfield.

"I don't think he is a direct replacement for Stevie Mallan. But there are aspects of his game that we hope he can replicate what Stevie did for us. He's different but similar if that makes sense."

The club were also boosted by the news that Kyle Magennis signed a new three-year deal with the club that takes him up to summer 2020.

It's a move that Jack believes shows the club is moving in the right direction.

It's a reflection of how happy he is at the club and how much he feels we can help him achieve his ambition in the game." he said.

"For us it's a real positive sign of the feeling around the club that a young player is willing to commit for a longer period and it gives us that protection as he'll undoubtedly progress in his career.

"I know he will take it the right way and his hunger will remain the same. It's a huge boost for everybody at the club."

Saints complete double swoop

St Mirren are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Ross Stewart and midfielder Jordan Kirkpatrick.

The pair have signed two-year deals with the Buddies and become the latest to join Jack Ross’ side.

22 year-old Stewart began his career at Motherwell before spending the last two seasons with League One side Albion Rovers.

He has been capped by Scotland at U17, 18 and 19 levels and makes the move back to full time football.

Speaking on the move, Stewart said: "I’ve been looking forward to this for a while. There were talks with Albion, the gaffer and myself and I’ve been dying to get it done and get in.

"It’s a great club. Seeing how hungry the gaffer and the coaching staff are for success and where they want the club to be sold the move to me as well.”

Meanwhile, Kirkpatrick joins from Alloa Athletic where he has impressed last season.

The 25 year-old scored 17 goals from midfield during the 2016/17 campaign and earned a nomination for League One Player of the Year.

Kirkpatrick said: "I’m on cloud nine right now. To get back to a full time environment and work like a manager like Jack is brilliant.

"It was really the only club I wanted to come to. If I had the chance to get back with Jack I was going to take it in a second."

Golden ticket prize winners

When we launched the sale of the season tickets we announced that for every 250 season tickets sold we would be doing a ‘golden ticket’ draw with a range of great ‘money can’t buy’ prizes to be won.

We have already sold well over 500 season tickets and can announce that the first prize has been won by John Porteous. John wins two directors box seats with access to the executive guest lounge for a match at the Paisley 2021 Stadium.

We have also decided to announce an additional prize within the first 250 sales. By virtue of being the 12th person to buy their season ticket, Ethan Spier will be given one of the first 2017/18 St Mirren jerseys with fan and the number 12 on the back. The club have agreed that no player will be assigned the number 12 this season to encourage the ethos that the fans are the 12th man and encourage supporters to get number 12 and "fan" on their shirt.

The third prize has been won by Thomas Matthews who will get a tour of the St Mirren Youth Academy and the chance to have lunch with the first team squad.

Buy your season tickets now at the ticket office or online to be included in as many draws as possible with more great prizes to be won.

Delight as Kyle Magennis signs till 2020

St Mirren are delighted to announce that Kyle Magennis has signed a new three-year contact with the club - a deal that sees Magennis committed to the Buddies until 2020.

The 18 year-old made his breakthrough this season after Jack Ross became manager, first appearing against Hibernian at Easter Road in October.

He became a regular feature in the side, making 32 appearances on his way to being named the club's Young Player of the Year.

Speaking on the extension, Magennis said: "It's brilliant.

"I've been with the club for a long time and I'd just like to repay them with a few more years where I can hopefully help take them to the Premiership.

"It was an easy decision and hopefully we can start the season the way we ended it."

Jack Ross said: "It's a reflection of how happy he is at the club. For us it's a real positive sign of the feeling around the club that a young player is willing to commit for a longer period.

"He'll undoubtedly progress in his career. I know he will take it the right way and his hunger will remain the same. It's a huge boost for everybody at the club."

James Fowler: We are trying to get work done early

James Fowler says the Buddies are keen to get their business done early in preparation for the new season.

Saints have re-signed Adam Eckersley, Jack Baird, Josh Todd, Gary MacKenzie and Cammy Smith with work continuing to get others on board.

And he confessed that they want to get deals done as quickly as possible ahead of the upcoming campaign.

He told stmirren.com: "It's about trying to nail down the ones we would like to keep and we had been looking for a number of weeks without knowing where we were going to be or when the season would finish.

"We have identified ones that we would like to bring to the club that we would make us better and we are trying to get a lot of our work done early.

"We'll have a well deserved week break and it won't stop then as you'll still have agents pestering you when you are on holiday. That's part and parcel of football and it's something we love.

"We want to make we get the right type and right quality of player in for next season."

Someone already onboard for next season is captain Stephen McGinn whose year extension kicked in as Saints secured Ladbrokes Championship safety.

The Buddies assistant praised January signing McGinn for the part he played in St Mirren's survival bid last season along with the efforts of the team as a whole.

It was crazy," he said, reflecting on the draw with Hibernian on the final day that ensured the Saints were safe.

"The St Mirren fans were amazing that day, but they have been since the turn of the year. There have been changes within the club and a real positive vibe and it's played a massive part in the success.

"You are out of control. Sometimes were you are on the field you feel like you were in control. But since we brought McGinn in he has been a massive influence on the squad. He's led by example on the training pitch and in every game he has played. The players have done excellent and we are extremely proud of them.

"We were aware that Raith had scored so that last two or three minutes got really nervy and we were kind of counting down the clock. The scenes at the end will live with me for a long time."

Fowler also paid recognition to the backroom staff that have helped himself and Jack Ross over the last few months.

Allan McManus had taken the team for a few weeks before myself and the manager had come in," he said.

"The manager was keen for Allan to continue being involved in the first team and he's that link between the first team and the 20s as well. It's good for us to be that unit.

"There's also Euan [Fotheringham] who has done an awful lot of analysis stuff for us and Jamie Langfield who mentored Billy O'Brien and brought him on as well.

"There isn't a lot of first team staff but the ones who have played their part have been tight and everybody has contributed."

Kyle Hutton leaves the Buddies

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of Kyle Hutton.

The midfielder joined the Buddies last summer after leaving fellow Championship side Queen of the South.

He went on to make 17 appearances for the Saints before being loaned out to Airdrieonians until the end of the season.

The club would like to wish Kyle all the best for his future career.

Cammy and Gary are in

St Mirren were boosted yesterday by the news that Gary MacKenzie and Cammy Smith signed deals with the club.

31 year-old MacKenzie signed a one-year contract extension while Cammy Smith became a permanent Saint after an impressive loan spell.

They join the likes of Stephen McGinn, Adam Eckersley, Jack Baird and Josh Todd in committing their future to the Buddies.

You can commit to St Mirren this season too by purchasing a Season Ticket at Early Bird prices.

The current Early Bird offer, which gives you the maximum value for your season ticket, will be available until Midnight 2nd July at the St Mirren Ticket Office and the Online Ticket Shop.

Season ticket sales are up 92% on this point last year with supporters getting behind Jack Ross' side in their numbers.
