St Mirren manager Oran Kearney reflects on a tough afternoon for Saints as they lost 4-1 to Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Many of you will have seen the campaign within football for many years, the, SPFL and its member clubs have been supporting the campaign since it started in Scotland 15 years ago.

In addition to increasing the awareness of SRtRC’s work in Scotland, the Fortnight of Action from 5th-19thOctober, shows commitment at the highest level of Scottish football to eradicate racism and discrimination of any form from our game.

All professional clubs will show their support over one weekend – Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October. Clubs will be united in calling for an end to racism in football and society. Players in over 40 European Countries are involved in similar events as part of FARE network against racism and discrimination.

We urge fans to continue to support the anti-racism message; it is the responsibility of us all to ensure that it is carried out beyond the Fortnight of Action and beyond the terraces.

St Mirren captain Stephen McGinn said: "We are delighted to be supporting Show Racism the Red Card's Fortnight of Action. There is no place in football or society for any form of discrimination and as a club we will continue to promote diversity and inclusion."

St Mirren condemn all forms of racism and any racist behaviour will not be tolerated within the club.

Show Racism the Red Card are working with grassroots football, community groups, schools, the police and prison service to ensure that going forward Scottish society and Scottish football is fair and inclusive for all. Football is a sport that is followed by people across the world and football matches should be an enjoyable experience for all, whatever their background. We all have a part to play in challenging racism in football and society.

Additional Information for Travelling Fans
On Saturday (6th October), St Mirren make the trip to the North East of Scotland to face Aberdeen in a Ladbrokes Premiership match-up at Pittodrie Stadium.

The referee on Saturday is Alan Muir and he will be assisted by Graham Chambers and Ralph Gordon. The Fourth Official will be David Dickinson.

We can confirm that the St Mirren airdome will be operational as of this Saturday (6th August). 

The dome had come down due to weather conditions a few weeks ago, but has now been restored to working order. 

Saturday's scheduled community session in the dome will go ahead.

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Adam Hammill on a short-term deal subject to international clearance. 

The Englishman joins the Saints until January with the option to extend until the end of the season. 

The 30 year-old winger becomes Oran Kearney’s fourth signing as St Mirren manager.

Hammill, who began his career at Liverpool, has had spells at Dunfermline, Southampton, Blackpool, Wolves, Middlesbrough, Huddersfield and Rotherham.

He joins Saints having left Barnsley at the end of last season.

Speaking exclusively to stmirren.com, Adam said: "I'm delighted to get going again. 

I spoke to the gaffer here and he sold me on the move.

"He told me about the ambition of the football club and what he wanted to do and it's something I was keen to be a part of. 

"I've signed a short-term deal till January and I'm just excited to show what I can do."

When you look at where we are at in this point of time he ticks the box. 

"Similar to Simeon [Jackson] and Anton [Ferdinand] there is a real hunger there to do well and I think that's vitally important.

"Adam has over 300 appearances, a lot at English Championship level, which gives an insight into the level he has played at for a long period of time."

St Mirren travel to Pittodrie this weekend to face Aberdeen in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Travelling supporters should be aware of the following information:

Coaches

Aberdeen Football Club charges £10 per coach or mini bus to park in the Golf Road car park.

This is the only designated coach park for away supporters’ coaches, any coaches or mini buses parking out with this area may be removed or incur a fixed penalty.

If the coach driver or bus organiser has the exact money ready, this will avoid any unnecessary delay.

A receipt similar to a match ticket will be issued containing the VAT number on the rear.

Once paid this will allow the coach driver to gain entry in to the stadium. 

Entry

Entry is by cash turnstiles which will be open from at least one hour prior to kick-off.

Prices are set at £26 for adults, £19 for over-65s, £15 for over-75s & students, £10 for U18s and £6 for U12s. 

Flag policy

No surfing flags are allowed in the away section.

Flags on 1.2 metre canes are allowed and any large flags, which must be fire retardant, can be displayed over the unoccupied seats of Section P or immediately behind the disabled section.

Delays coming into the city

There are no roadworks scheduled for traffic coming into the city, but supporters should be aware of the usual hold ups in the harbour area which may cause delays.

The turnstiles open one hour prior to kick-off and supporters should be at the ground around 25 minutes before kick-off to ensure that they see the start of the game.

Smoking policy

Pittodrie stadium is a non-smoking stadium. If a person wishes to leave the ground to smoke they can do so, but they will be treated as leaving the stadium and not be allowed to re-enter.

St Mirren were edged out by Hibernian at The Simple Digital Arena despite a spirited performance against Neil Lennon's side.

The goal came 14 minutes in with the first chance of the game. An in-swinging corner from Stephen Mallan found David Gray at the back post who headed into the ground with the ball bouncing into the roof of the net.

Almost 20 minutes in and St Mirren created a half chance, with debutant Simeon Jacksons cross just failing to connect with the boot of Ryan Edwards. The Saints attack was really struggling to breakthrough Hibernian’s defence.

Moments later and at the other end Hibs had another opportunity, this time Mallan found himself free on the edge of the box and just sliced the ball over Samson’s goal.

Saints rallied with Cameron MacPherson whipping a fast ball into the visitor’s box, just missing several St Mirren heads as it went out for a goal kick.

Just after the half hour mark The Buddies had their first real chance of the game. Paul McGinn played a one-two with Cammy Smith, Smith’s smart chip over the Hibs defence found McGinn, who fired the ball into the stand-off of his weaker left foot.

As Hyndman charged towards the Buddies box he played a pass wide to David Gray, looking for his second of the game, his low shot forces Samson into a diving save.

With seconds left before the referee blew for half-time David Gray made one last chance for the visitors - his low cross bounced around the box before it fell to the head of Horgan, who guided the ball into the path of Craig Samson for a routine save. The Irishman would have been disappointed to pass up a great opportunity from close range.

It was a difficult first half for the Saints, but Kearney’s men started to come into the game as the half came to a close. 

At the beginning of the second half Agyepong nearly made it 2-0 to the visitors. The winger intercepted the a loose pass from Lee Hodson close to the St Mirren box. The pacey winger got a shot away but Jack Baird threw himself in front of the shot to protect the St Mirren goal.

Simeon Jackson created a golden opportunity on the 50th minute as he looked to mark his Saints debut with a goal. He outmuscled Efe Ambrose and charged into the box. His low curling shot forced Adam Bogdan into a good save, as Hibs cleared the ball, barely preserving their lead.

St Mirren nearly found themselves caught on the counter. Agyepong was again causing problems, his break down the wing came to Mallan, whose shot just curved wide of the Saints goal.

The Saints had started to take control of the game, leaving Hibs to counter attack, with Agyepong continually causing problems with his pace. But overall the home side were starting to cause some serious problems. The only thing lacking is that final touch in the box, with a number of chances going wide of the opposition’s goal.

On the 77th minute Stephen McGinn swung a beautiful ball over the Hibs, with Cammy MacPherson running in behind to meet the ball. But MacPherson's touch could only guide his shot mere inches wide of Bogdan’s goal. 

As the game entered the closing minutes the Saints started to really press the visitors, keeping them pressed within their half. But despite the late pressure Hibs were able to hang on to all three points.

For Kearney they’re still positives to take. Strong performances from both debuting Simeon Jackson and youngster Sam Jamieson will leave him with good options up front.
