Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

Follow this road and after a sharp right hand bend you should now be in Greenock Road. Then take your first right on to Clark Street and drive to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the stadium on the opposite side of the road.

McGinn frustrated with Spartans performance

Tuesday night was a disappointing performance says captain Stephen McGinn, and he wants the club to get back to winning ways soon.

St Mirren drew 2-2 with Spartans at The Simple Digital Arena in the Betfred Cup, after going down 2-0 to the Edinburgh side on 55 minutes. The Buddies did manage to to pull the scoreline back, after goals from Stephen McGinn and Danny Mullen, but even the penalty shootout victory wasn't enough to satisfy the Saints skipper.

He said: "Deep frustration - really frustrated. I think in the end we maybe had enough chances, and if we were a bit more clinical, we would have won the game.

"But it probably wouldn't have changed the feeling on the first 60 minutes. It just wasn't like us at all, and especially here.

"I can't speak for the rest of the boys but I get a real buzz coming here, especially a night like this when you see the pitch. I'm just bursting to play, and to go out and perform like that is really frustrating.

"The cliche is 'not approaching the game right' and for some us it maybe looked like that. We were always half a second too slow to things, we didn't move the ball quick enough and we weren't clinical with the chances that came our way in the first half and especially at the end.

"But I can't put my finger on it because there was a lot wrong."

McGinn started the game on the bench but was introduced as a substitute on the 57th minute, and two minutes later he scored St Mirren's first goal and spurred them on their way to a comeback.

He continued: "I knew I would need a quick burst of 5-10 minutes to really inject it. It's hard sometimes coming on in games, but in a game like that it's easy to go on and put a stamp on it.

"Delighted to get the goal as quickly as we did, but personally frustrated we never managed to win it in normal time.

"When we turn it on we have really good players. We've still got some really important players at this club - I thought Flynny was excellent tonight, really, really good.

"We still have a strong mentality in the team; a Championship winning mentality. So we need to continue that for as long as we can.

"When I seen the Spartans team as well, they've got a few good players, and players I remember playing at good levels and maybe just missed out at playing at the level we're playing now.

"Sometimes if you don't respect the opposition you can come a cropper. I played with the guy at the back, he was a Scottish internationalist at every youth level, so these guys can play if you let them."

St Mirren's next game comes on Saturday in a friendly match against Sunderland, which is sure to be an intriguing bout, as the Paisley side will face off against their manager of last season, Jack Ross. This will be his first time returning to the club since his move in the summer.

He added: "I say it often enough, I love playing here, I love playing in front of these fans and pleased to score again - I don't do it often enough. Just glad to be back and hopefully next time we're here we can put a much more positive performance on.

"I think Sunderland will bring a good support, so it'll maybe have a little edge to it, which we're thankful to them for. Hopefully we can have a decent crowd in here.

"Obviously the return of our old manager, who we all think highly of - I'm sure he'll get a fantastic reception of our fans, so we're looking forward to that. But also trying to put on a better showing than we did tonight."

Reaction: Alan Stubbs post Spartans

Alan Stubbs gives his thoughts on St Mirren's 2-2 draw with Spartans at home. The team did go on to win the penalty shootout for the extra point, but the manager believes there is still work to be done.

Match Report: St Mirren 2-2 Spartans (5-3 on penalties)

St Mirren survived a real scare from Lowland League champions Spartans at the Simple Digital Arena tonight - coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 and claim a bonus point after a 5-3 penalty shoot-out win.

The Buddies were stunned as the Edinburgh side scored either side of the break through Jason Stevens and Scott Maxwell.

But substitutes Stephen McGinn and Danny Mullen pulled Saints level, before

Alan Stubbs took charge of St Mirren for the first time at the Saints' home ground and made six changes from the team that drew 0-0 with Kilmarnock on Friday night.

Ian McShane came into the team, while Danny Rogers and Josh Heaton were given debuts. There were also first starts for Jim Kellermann, Cody Cooke and Jeff King. Dropping to bench were Craig Samson, Cole Kpewaka, Stephen McGinn, Cameron MacPherson and Daniel Mullen, with Jordan Kirkpatrick missing out due to injury.

It was the visitors who took the lead in bizarre circumstances with just six minutes gone. The far side linesman raised his offside flag as Jason Stevens ran on to a pass by Jack Smith. The whole Saints defence stopped still at the sight of the flag, but Stevens ran through to slot beyond Danny Rogers. The forward looks despondent to see the linesman's flag being raised only for the referee to allays his fears and award the Lowland League champions the goal. The Saints players were furious, but found themselves 1-0 down.

Cody Cooke, making his home debut for Saints, will feel he should have done better on 20 minutes when he rose highest to meet a decent Paul McGinn cross. But the striker's header was easy for Blair Carswell in the Spartans goal.

Jim Kellermann, another home debutant, spurned a glorious chance to put Saints level five minutes before the break when he got on the end of an inch perfect cross form Jeff King. The midfielder was unmarked, but bulleted the header past the post.

Half Time: St Mirren 0-1 Spartans

Alan Stubbs clearly wasn't pleased with what he saw in the first half and responded by bringing Danny Mullen on at the interval in place of Kellermann.

Saints looked to spark themselves into life and had a good free kick opportunity when Cody Cooke was felled right on the edge of the box with the second half just a little over 20 seconds old. Half time sub Mullen and Jeff King stood over it with the latter curling a low shot straight at Carswell.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, the visitors almost doubled their lead with Danny Rogers at full stretch to deny Stevens a second with the striker's effort creeping into the top corner.

It was only a mere delay though as Spartans would get their second just a minute later. Rogers came to punch clear, but only succeeding in pushing the ball straight to Scott Maxwell. With the keeper off his line, Maxwell lifted the ball high over him before it nestled into the back of the net to stun the Paisley crowd.

Alan Stubbs reacted by making two quick changes. Ross Stewart came on in place of Cody Cooke, while Stephen McGinn replaced Ian McShane.

And trust the skipper to step up when it mattered. Less than three minutes after coming on, the midfielder rifled home after a corner to reduce the arrears.

Just two minutes later Saints really ought to have levelled when Stewart, another sub, was sent racing clear on goal. The forward got on the end of a ball over the top but slammed his effort over.

There was a scare for the home side when Jack Smith found himself in space inside the Buddies box but his attempt was straight at Rogers.

After that St Mirren battered the Lowland League side in an attempt to get on level terms. Stewart missed a good chance with a header over from around six yards out and Hayden Coulson crashing a curling free kick off the cross bar.

Saints would be given a penalty with just 15 minutes to go when Ryan Flynn was tripped on his way into the box. Mullen stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to make it 2-2.

Spartans were living a charmed life heading into the final 10 minutes Carswell denying a Mullen header at point blank range and then making another big save from Cammy Smith. Mullen protested that he had scored when a header came off the underside of the bar, before Carswell made a stunning stop to deny Smith once again.

And so, for the second game running, Saints would head to penalties. Like Friday night, the Buddies would claim this bonus point with Ross Stewart, Paul McGinn, Ryan Flynn, Danny Mullen and Cammy Smith all netting from 12 yards.

Match Preview: St Mirren v Spartans

St Mirren will make their first home appearance of the season this evening when Spartans come to town in the Betfred Cup.

It will be the first chance most fans will get to see the new Buddies boss, Alan Stubbs, and his revamped Saints side at the newly named Simple Digital Arena.

Stubbs' team kicked off the season last Friday night away to Kilmarnock in the first tie of the Betfred Cup group stage. The game finished goalless at Rugby Park which, as are the rules of the competition, resulted in a penalty shootout between the two teams.

Saints had started the game very brightly, with starting debut's for Paul McGinn, Cole Kpekawa and Hayden Coulson. Danny Mullen was close to putting the away side ahead, but just couldn't get his toe onto the end of Ryan Flynn's cross into the box. Other first half chances fell to Cammy Smith and Jordan Kirkpatrick, with the former striking the crossbar from 10 yards out. Kilmarnock could have also taken the lead though, after Jordan Jones capitalised on a Jack Baird mistake to tee up Lee Erwin - but was was denied by Saints stopper Samson.

The best chance of the second half fell to Jack Baird, when Killie failed to clear their lines at a corner, the ball landed at the feet of the young centre back with the goal wide open - but he couldn't turn it homeward and the ball ended up in the stand behind the goal. We also saw the introduction of Jim Kellermann, Jeff King and Cody Cooke for their debuts.

The game ended 0-0 so went to spot kicks to determine who gathered the extra point. Paul McGinn, Hayden Coulson and Danny Mullen managed to convert their penalties, and with the heroics of St Mirren legend Craig Samson, the Paisley side where the ones who took away the extra point, finishing 3-2 on penalties.

Spartans' first game of the Betfred Cup came against Dumbarton on Saturday, with the game also ending 0-0 and being decided by penalties. The Sons managed to edge the shootout though, winning 4-3 after the full time whistle.

Spartans were close to promotion into the Scottish Professional Football League, after they won the Scottish Lowland League last term, but fell at the play-off stage when they were knocked out by Cove Rangers.

The last time the two sides met was back in November of 2016 in the Scottish Cup third round at The Simple Digital Arena. It was a resounding win for the home side that day though and ran out 5-1 winners, with goals from Lawrence Shankland, Stevie Mallan, John Sutton and a sensational individual goal from youngster Kyle McAllister which ended up winning goal of the round.

Tonight could see debut's for on-loan Dons keeper Danny Rogers and former Darlington FC defender Josh Heaton, should Alan Stubbs choose to select the pair. Kyle Magennis remains a doubt after he missed Friday night's game through injury, as well as Jordan Kirkpatrick who came off with a knock.

Kpekawa wants more games to help improve

New recruit Cole Kpekawa signed and made his debut for Saints on Friday, but knows there's still work to be done before the league campaign starts.

He started the game against Kilmarnock in the Betfred Cup, and left a good first impression on both the manager and fans.

He said: "I thought I did ok. Still thought I was a bit rusty in certain areas, but that's going to happen - I haven't played in a long time.

"I needed that game. I needed to get it out of my system. We had a few in-house games as well, but proper games like this is what I need really, and the more I get the more I improve so I'm very happy to get out there.

"I thought I did ok, but you can always improve."

Kpekawa was paired with Jack Baird in the 0-0 draw at Rugby Park, but insists that he already feels comfortable in the squad since he started on trial a couple of weeks ago.

He added: "We sit next to each other in the changing room so we talk a lot, and in training he always talks to me, that's all the defenders though - since I've come here everyone has made me feel welcome. So it's a connection already on the pitch.

"It's simple, just basics really, we've got to communicate. We're all professionals now so everyone should know their job really."

The big defender had played his whole career down in England so far, most recently at Colchester United. He didn't hesitate at the chance to have a crack at Scotland though, and have the opportunity to work with the new St Mirren manager Alan Stubbs.

He enthused: "I'm very happy to get it over the line. Obviously I came here on trial, so I had to work hard when I first came in to show what I can do and fortunately it happened and I got offered the deal.

"When I first got the call about coming up to Scotland I was over the moon, just to have the opportunity. I've never played up here before, so it was a whole new experience for me.

"He's [Stubbs] played around 500 league games at massive clubs so I can learn from him, he can teach me things.

"I think right now I'm only probably 70% fit, maybe even less. When I'm fully fit I can be way more athletic than I showed today.

"I'm a ball playing centre half, I want to play, I want to keep clean sheets as well. I just want to do well and help the team as much as I can and push on in this league."
