Jim Kellermann is feeling stronger every day

St Mirren have been out in La Manga the past week for their pre-season training camp, as they get ready for the season ahead.

We caught up with new midfielder, Jim Kellermann, after the squad reported for training in the south east of Spain with new manager, Alan Stubbs.

Kellermann said: "It's been good. It's been hard work obviously, but the lads have been great and training has been good.

"It's been very hot, but it's been very good - we needed it as a squad and we've really worked hard together. It's been a positive time over here."

"It's how you set yourself to start the year. We know it's all going to be tough over here, but these things are hugely important going into the season, and it's been a very, very good week.

The Englishman joined from National League side Aldershot Town in May, but the 23 year-old knows that putting in the work now will only benefit the team long term.

He continued: "We've been worked very hard and we needed that - we're going into a tough division. But the training has been very good, the ball has been out plenty and you can see the way the manager wants us to play and it's not too different from previously, from what I've heard from the other lads. So it's all been good.

"At the end of the week I was knackered, but I'm feeling stronger every day, as is everyone else."

This was also a chance for Kellermann and fellow new signings McGinn, Heaton, Cooke and King to bond and gel with their new team mates as The Buddies take the step up from Championship to Premiership football this season.

He added: "Obviously the room situations that we're in allows you to talk to players you wouldn't usually. All the lads have been great though and have made me feel very welcome, as they have with the other new boys.

"You can see why they did so well last year, because they're a tight knit group."

Street Stuff Summer Programme Starts 2nd July!

Schools may be out but the ever-popular Street Stuff activities don’t stop as the packed summer programme launches on Monday, 2nd July.

Football, dance, gaming, DJ workshops and much more… is available for young people aged 8 to 16 to take part in for free this summer.

With no school to look forward to each day, all young people are being invited to take part in the summer clubs at a range of venues across Renfrewshire.

Afternoon clubs will take place in Renfrew, Johnstone, Paisley and Linwood from 2nd July until 11th August, with core evening sessions on each day except Sundays.

Young People attending an afternoon session will also receive a free healthy lunch as they’re sure to work up an appetite at whichever activity they take part in.

Councillor Marie McGurk, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Communities, Housing and Planning Policy Board, said: “With bundles of energy to spare with no schoolwork over the summer, Street Stuff provides the perfect opportunity to tire them out each day.

“Our brilliant team of coaches and volunteers will help engage them in different activities each day whether they’re a dancer, footballer or gamer.

“With the added addition of a healthy lunch to keep them going during the day, I’m sure it’ll be a struggle to get them home from each activity.

“All young people are free to come along, make friends and have a fantastic summer.”

Street Stuff is a diversionary project run in partnership between Renfrewshire Council, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Engage Renfrewshire and St Mirren Football Club.

The programme began in 2009 in Renfrewshire contributing to a reduction in youth disorder and anti-social behaviour by 75 per cent over the first five years with a sustained reduction of 65 per cent. Young people will also get the chance to have their say on what they would like to see as part of the 10 year Street Stuff Birthday celebration activities next year.

Find out exactly when each club is on at www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/summerclubs.

As part of the upcoming tenth anniversary celebrations of the award winning Street Stuff Programme, Street Stuff Manager, Stevie Gallacher confirms that St Mirren Football Club has donated prizes which will be presented to the best attendees at this summer's Street Stuff Summer Programme which gets underway on Monday 2nd July.

Stevie said: "The first prize will go to the person with the best attendance record over the summer, they will have the choice of either the new home or away St Mirren shirt that will be worn for season 2018/19. The person with the next best attendance record will be presented with a club football signed by the first team squad.

"The club has had a long and close partnership with the Street Stuff Programme over the last decade and it is good to see that it is as strong as ever. We are looking forward to another season of fun at locations across Renfrewshire which kick-off on Monday 2nd July and hope that many youngsters will come along and attend the Summer Camp venues which are running Monday to Friday for the duration of the school summer holidays."
