St Mirren return to The SMiSA Stadium on Saturday after three away games on the bounce. 

Our last match at home was at the end of last month when we defeated Livingston 1-0 in the cinch Premiership. 

Saints host Ross County in the league after a frustrating run of three defeats in a row. Chris Kane's 96th minute goal saw Saints lose 1-0 to St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Wednesday night. That came after a late 1-0 defeat to Ross County in Dingwall and a 2-0 loss at Ibrox. Despite those defeats, the Buddies remain in fourth place in the cinch Premiership and sit just a point off third place Hearts. 

Ross County have picked up a possible seven points from nine since Derek Adams returned to the club as manager. They defeated Motherwell 3-0 at the Global Energy Stadium on Tuesday night to move up to eighth in the cinch Premiership.

Previous 

There has been very little to separate the two sides with just one goal in it across the the last five meetings. Four of those last five meetings have finished 1-0 with Saints picking up two wins - both at The SMiSA Stadium - and Ross County with three - all in Dingwall.  

Saints were beaten 1-0 at the Global Energy Stadium last week in a rearranged fixture. A late Jordan White goal gave Ross County the points. 

The Buddies won 1-0 in both meetings between the two at The SMiSA Stadium last season. Richard Tait scored the only goal in the August match, while Declan Gallagher gave us the win in February.

Calum Scott is the referee on Saturday. He'll be assisted by Ross Macleod and Alastair Mather. The fourth official is Steven McLean.

John Beaton is the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and he'll be assisted by Jonathan Bell. 

An injury-time Chris Kane goal saw St Mirren lose in Perth. Stephen Robinson's men created a host of chances throughout the 90 minutes, but couldn't find the net before Kane - who saw his penalty saved but scored on the follow-up - consigned Saints to defeat. 

Lewis Jamieson made his first start of the season in place of Conor McMenamin, while Charles Dunne replaced the injured Richard Taylor in the only changes from the side that lost 2-0 to Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday. 

The hosts were forced into an early change with Max Kucheriavyi having to be replaced by Sven Sprangler with just 10 minutes of the clock after failing to shake off the effects of a clash of heads with Scott Tanser in the opening minutes. 

Saints should have taken the lead on 24 minutes when St Johnstone's Daniel Phillips gave the ball away on the edge of his box. The ball was worked through to Jonah Ayunga who was challenged just before he could slot into the net. It did fall to Jamieson whose effort was knocked over the bar by Dimitar Mitov in the St Johnstone goal. 

The home side then had their best chance of the match on the half-hour mark when Matt Smith met a dangerous ball swung in by Graham Carey. The St Johnstone midfielder got his foot on it but sent his side-foot volley straight into the arms of Zach Hemming. Carey had a go from distance a few minutes later but didn't get enough on it to trouble the Saints goalkeeper with Hemming collecting with ease. 

Saints were forced into a first-half change of their own when Ryan Flynn pulled up with an injury and was replaced by McMenamin. Stephen Robinson was forced into another change at the break when Tanser had to come off. He was replaced by James Bolton.

The Buddies should have taken an early second-half lead when Mark O'Hara found Greg Kiltie unmarked in the St Johnstone box. The forward headed into the ground which allowed Mitov to gather comfortably. The hosts then went up the park moments later with Hemming doing well to touch Carey's cross-cum-shot away from the danger area. 

Jamieson did well to pick out a super cross-field ball from McMenamin on the hour mark. The St Mirren Youth Academy graduate brought the ball under control before getting his strike away, but it was straight at Mitov. 

That would be Jamieson's last contribution as he was replaced as part of a double change on 66 minutes. He was replaced by Toyosi Olusanya while Mikael Mandron came on in place of Ayunga. 

The substitutes can agonisingly close to putting us ahead on 72 minutes when Olusanya stole the ball in the St Johnstone half and race forward towards the box. He slid the ball across the face of the area where Mandron was sliding in, but his touch came off the post. That chance had come two minutes after Dunne had almost given us a stunning lead with his effort from 25 yards touched over the bar by Mitov. 

The home side had the best chance on 78 minutes when substitute Kane pounced on a defensive mistake from Alex Gogic to race clear on goal. But the St Johnstone forward couldn't make it count as he dragged his attempt wide. 

It appeared that it would be a share of the spoils for both sides until the hosts were awarded a penalty in the final seconds of the game. Kane saw his spot-kick saved by Hemming, but he followed up to win it for the home side.

We are delighted to confirm that delivery of third kit has now been taken. 

The club, in collaboration with SMiSA, Pitch Pro Retail and Macron, gave SMiSA members the opportunity to design and select the third kit back in August.

Following a lengthy shortlisting process to narrow over 200 designs, a fan vote took place with a final shortlist of final kits to choose from. The winning design (kit one) was a red, Paisley pattern themed strip designed by Rhys Proctor. 

The club welcomed Rhys to The SMiSA Stadium to get a first look at the new kit and model it alongside men's first-team players Mark O'Hara and Jonah Ayunga. 

The club shop has confirmed that all pre-ordered kit will be shipped early next week. Pre-orders for collection will also be ready early next week, but customers should only come to the store when the receive a notification to do so. Retail stock will go on sale in store towards the end of next week with a date to be confirmed.

There will be a foodbank and soft toy & games collection this evening at McDiarmid Park. This will take place at the front of the Ormond Stand between 6:15pm-7:30pm.

First-team players will be on hand from 5pm until 7pm to sign calendars and meet supporters. 

Calendars, which are now available at the St Mirren club shop, can be purchased on the night or from the club shop prior to the signing. Please note that only calendars will be signed by the players, no other merchandise will be permitted to be signed on the night.

Derek and his daughters Millie, 4 and Maci, 11 months were first referred to Home-Start following the sudden death of Derek’s wife and the girls Mum, Sharlene. Home-Start introduced Derek to a volunteer who offered friendship and support.

Home-Start Coordinator, Kerry visited the family home to find out what supports would help Derek and his children.  Understandably Derek was devasted and the first meeting was heart breaking. Over a few weeks of building trust with Kerry, Derek was able to identify that he was struggling with knowing what to buy for the household shopping and how to cook meals for Millie and Maci.  His wife, Sharlene had previously organised the food shops and made the meals for the family. Derek was also feeling lonely and isolated in his grief particularly when the girls were at nursery.

Kerry introduced Derek to Volunteer Jim and they hit it off straight away.  Jim visited the family home every week for 2-3 hours. Jim and Derek would go together to do the weekly food shop. As Derek had dyslexia, Jim helped Derek with reading ingredients labels and cooking instructions. Jim also supported Derek to learn to make a variety of staple meals that were quick, cost effective and easy to make like home-made soups, curries and sweet potatoes.

Before long a friendship between Derek and Jim was developing.  Derek felt he had someone to talk to about his struggles of losing Sharlene.  Derek and Jim were both football fans and often went to watch games together, it was a great day out with both focused on the match, which provided respite from the daily routine. The bond over sport strengthen with Jim and Derek playing rounds of golf.

Derek was starting to find his confidence again and has started coaching at his daughter’s football team. Millie had made new friends and so had Derek.  Derek also became friends with Gemma, a friend of a parent at the football team and unbeknown to them they would go on to marry.  

As time went on Derek didn’t need Jim to visit as much as he was now back out in his community and the family was thriving. It was agreed that Home-Start support had come to a natural end and to this day Derek and Jim still keep in touch.

In July 2023 Derek and Gemma got married and Jim and his wife Marie attended the wedding! Family life has moved on for Derek, Gemma, Millie and Maci.

St Mirren are on the road for a third cinch Premiership match running as we face St Johnstone in league action.

Stephen Robinson's men face the Perth Saints on the back of a 2-0 loss at Ibrox. A double from Abdallah Sima either side of half-time saw Saints defeated. With 22 points, the Buddies are in fourth place in the cinch Premiership after 15 matches. 

St Johnstone also go into Wednesday night's match on the back of a defeat to Celtic at McDiarmid Park. The Perth Saints had taken a first-half lead, but three second-half Celtic goals saw them lose 3-1. 

Craig Levein's side sit in 11th place with 11 points from their first 14 cinch Premiership matches.

Previous 

Saints were victorious in only meeting with St Johnstone so far this season. Goals from Keanu Baccus, Mikael Mandron (x2) and Greg Kiltie saw us defeat the Perth side 4-0 at The SMiSA Stadium at the end of October. 

Kiltie was also on the scoresheet in our last win at McDiarmid Park when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win in April 2022. 

A late Alex Gogic goal saw us take a point on our last visit to Perth after Zak Rudden had given the hosts the lead in February of this year.

The referee on Wednesday night is Kevin Clancy. He's assisted by Drew Kirkland and Stuart Stevenson. Ross Hardie is fourth official.

Saints were beaten at Ibrox as an Aballdah Sima double gave Rangers a 2-0 win in the cinch Premiership.  

The Buddies had their chances in the first-half, but fell behind to a Sima on the final minute of normal time at the end of the half. And the Rangers forward added his and Rangers' second with 20 minutes remaining to ensure Saints left Govan empty-handed. 

There were four changes from the side that lost at Ross County on Tuesday night. Richard Taylor, Ryan Flynn, Caolan Boyd-Munce and Jonah Ayunga came in for Charles Dunne, Keanu Baccus, Alex Greive and Mikael Mandron. 

The Buddies started fairly brightly with Conor McMenamin curling a dangerous low ball in from the right. Ayunga couldn't get the touch on it that would have surely taken it beyond Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland who managed to gather in the end. 

The hosts had a good opportunity on 19 minutes when a ball swung to the back post met James Tavernier who nodded back across goal for Todd Cantwell. The Rangers midfielder had space but sclaffed his shot. Sima came close five minutes later when he headed a Tavernier cross over the bar. 

Saints' best chance of the half came on 37 minutes when Boyd-Munce was within a whisker of putting the Buddies ahead. The midfielder's low curling effort from the edge of the box looked destined for the bottom left-hand corner but was tipped wide in what was a terrific save from Butland.

The home side took the lead in the final minute of normal time at the end of the first-half. Sima lashed beyond Zach Hemming, who could do nothing to prevent it, from 12 yards to put the hosts ahead as we headed into the break.  

Saints started brightly at the second-half in search of an equaliser and Butland made another good save to deny Saints a few minutes after the restart. This time it was Ayunga who had a go from range and the Rangers goalkeeper had to scurry across at full-stretch to turn the effort behind. 

It was then Hemming's turn to be called into action on 53 minutes when he had to beat away a strike from Rangers captain Tavernier on the edge of the area. The Saints stopper got two strong hands behind it to push away. 

Saints were still probing and got another opportunity on the hour mark when a Greg Kiltie pass got through the legs of Leon Balogun and fell for Ayunga on the edge of the area. The forward wasn't expecting it but managed to compose himself before getting a tame shot away that was gathered with relative ease by Butland. 

Rangers doubled their advantage with 20 minutes of the match remaining. Cantwell's through pass found Sima in the clear and he used his pace to race through before slotting beyond Hemming to make it 2-0 and secure all the points for the home side.
