Defeat for Saints at Dens

St Mirren suffered just a third league defeat of the cinch Premiership season as the Buddies fell to a 4-0 loss at Dens Park.

First-half goals from Amadou Bakayoko and Zak Rudden had the hosts 2-0 in-front at the interval. Bakayoko scored his second and Dundee's third early into the second-half before susbstitute Zach Robinson to cap off a disappointing afternoon for Saints.

Stephen Robinson was forced into one change from the side that drew 2-2 with Hibernian on Wednesday night. Mark O'Hara missed out with illness and was replaced by Keanu Baccus. Marcus Fraser took the captain's armband.

The hosts had a big opportunity to take an early lead when Zak Rudden beat Richard Taylor to the ball and raced one-on-one with Zach Hemming. But the Dundee forward cracked his effort off the post.

Dundee would go in front when they opened the scoring on 16 minutes. Taylor's attempted clearance from a corner fell straight to the feet of Bakayoko who fired into the net.

Saints' first decent chance came on 22 minutes after a good passage of play saw the ball worked to Conor McMenamin on the right-hand side. The forward cut inside and got his shot away but he didn't get enough on it as it drifted harmlessly wide.

The Buddies were moving the ball about well enough in the first 45 but hadn't done enough to trouble Dundee goalkeeper Trevor Carson and in the final minute of the half, the home side were awarded a penalty with Fraser penalised for a handball. Rudden took and sent Hemming the wrong way to double the home side's advantage.

The manager made four changes at the interval with Charles Dunne, Lewis Jamieson, Toyosi Olusanya and Alex Greive introduced in place of Taylor, McMenamin, Greg Kiltie and Mikael Mandron.

Dundee added a third a little over 10 minutes into the second-half. A quick break saw Bakayoko feed the ball wide to Rudden who charged down the right. His shot was saved by Hemming but fell to the feet of Bakayoko who knocked into an empty net.

Thierry Small came on for Caolan Boyd-Munce with a little under 20 minutes remaining and he had a massive chance to pull a goal back within a minute of his introduction. It was a brilliant ball in from Jamieson which met the loanee at the far post but he crashed his effort off the bar. Two minutes later, the roles were reversed when Small turned provider for Jamieson, but the Youth Academy graduate sent his strike over the bar.

Dundee added a fourth with five minutes of normal time remaining after hitting Saints on the counter. Luke McCowan broke clear and shuffled the ball across to substitute Robinson who knocked beyond Hemming to round off a poor afternoon for the Buddies.

Stephen Robinson gives reaction to draw with Hibernian

You get chances every day at this football club and Lewis has grabbed that by the scruff of the neck."

Stephen Robinson gives his reaction to tonight's draw with Hibernian.

Jamieson first Saints goal grabs us share of the spoils

Lewis Jamieson's first St Mirren goal grabbed Saints a share of the spoils against Hibernian. The 21-year-old netted in injury-time to give the Buddies a point

Saints boss Stephen Robinson made one change to the side that lost narrowly at Celtic Park last Wednesday with Mikael Mandron starting up top in place of Toyosi Olusanya. Keanu Baccus returned to the squad after missing the trip to Celtic, but he had to settle for a place on the bench.

It was Hibernian who struck first with Josh Campbell firing the visitors in front on 12 minutes. A Jordan Obita pass slipped under the legs of Alex Gogic allowing Dylan Vente to run on to it. The Dutch striker laid the ball back to the edge of the area to meet Campbell who slotted low into the bottom left corner.

10 minutes later Vente got himself in behind the Saints defence but the angle was too tight as he blasted wide of the target.

The visitors had two big opportunities in the space of two minutes to double their advantage. A goal-mouth scramble saw Zach Hemming push away a strike from Elie Youan and the Hibees forward was close to making it 2-0 on 35 minutes when he was found in space by a Campbell cross, but he smashed well wide.

The Buddies best chance of the first-half came in the final minutes of normal time when Greg Kiltie found himself on the end of a Mandron knock down. He smashed towards goal but saw it turned away by Obita.

Marcus Fraser came close to levelling seconds after the restart when he picked the ball out of the air and sent a volley just wide of the target.

Hemming had to be alert and his quick thinking denied the visitors a second less than five minutes into the second-half. Hibs goalscorer Campbell looked to pounce on a loose back pass from Gogic but the Saints goalkeeper was quick to charge out and smother the ball. How important that would prove to be just two minutes later when Saints were awarded a penalty after a VAR check. Richard Taylor was hauled down in the box and referee Steven McLean was advised to check the monitor. The referee pointed to the spot and captain Mark O'Hara smashed home to draw us level.

Hemming made a good save on the hour mark after Youan jinxed his way through and fired a low effort towards the left-hand post.

Hibernian re-took the lead with just over 20 minutes of the game remaining. Youan burst forward at speed and slipped in Vente who made his way into the box and rolled across the six yard area where it met Joe Newell who knocked into the net from close range.

The manager introduced Alex Greive and Jamieson as the Buddies searched for a leveller. And they both came close to making an instant impact with a brilliant delivery from Jamieson begging to be touched home by Toyosi Olusanya, before Greive turned a shot just behind the post two minutes later.

Saints pressed for an equaliser and it would finally come in the second minute of added on time when Jamieson fired home from just inside the area. His initial shot was blocked but it fell to the academy graduate again and he slammed into the net to score his first for St Mirren and earn us a point.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

Up Next: St Mirren v Hibernian (8th Nov)

Saints return to action at The SMiSA Stadium as we host Hibernian in the cinch Premiership on Wednesday night.

The Buddies weren't in action at the weekend due to Hibernian's participation in the Viaplay Cup semi-finals. Nick Montgomery's side were defeated 1-0 by 10 man Aberdeen at Hampden on Saturday.

Despite not playing at the weekend, Stephen Robinson's side remain in third place in the cinch Premiership on 18 points - two points ahead of Kilmarnock. The Buddies were edged out when we faced league leaders Celtic at Celtic Park last Wednesday, losing 2-1. But Saints were victorious in our previous match at The SMiSA Stadium, defeating bottom side St Johnstone 4-0.

The two sides have faced off against each other twice already this season.

An 89th minute header from Alex Greive saw Saints win 3-2 at Easter Road on the opening day of the season. Mark O'Hara and Toyosi Olusanya had us 2-0 in front before Adam LeFondre and Christian Doidge levelled the scores. New Zealand striker Greive popped up in the final minute of normal time to ensure the points came back to Paisley.

Hibernian were victorious when the sides met in the Viaplay Cup quarter-final. Despite goals from Scott Tanser and Keanu Baccus, the Buddies were beaten 4-2 at Easter Road.

Our last win against the Hibees at The SMiSA Stadium came at the beginning of last season when Keanu Baccus scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory.

Kilbarchan Primary School visit

Thierry Small and James Bolton visited Kilbarchan Primary School last week as part of our ongoing community schools programme.

The pair answered questions from pupils at all year groups before meeting the boys' & girls’ school football teams as well as handing out tickets to last weekend's 4-0 win over St Johnstone.

Pupils were also treated to a day of coaching from our Street Stuff coaches and we are happy to say we received great feedback from some of the pupils.

Luis (P7): "Having St Mirren in school was amazing! They shared lots of good information about football with us. I really enjoyed the training session with the coach."

Jack (P7/6): "I liked working with the coach. He was really good fun and taught us lots of new skills. The skill drills were good, and I learned lots of new skills."

Tristen (P7/6): I loved meeting the players and I even got their autograph, and the coach taught me new skills. Thank you!"

Grace (P7): "The sessions were very well planned and were a great opportunity for us to learn new football skills.  We played mini games which were great fun! I was very inspired by the coach and the players. We were really lucky to meet the players!"

Bonnie (P4): "I really liked seeing the players and it was good for people who have never seen footballers before!  I liked playing football with the coach, the best part was when we were dribbling the ball to music! We even got to do the Macarena it the end - it was great fun!"

Marnie (P6): "Our class warmed up by playing musical statues with the coach, which was good fun. I tried to jump with the ball in between my feet and get it in the target, I managed it and was proud of myself!"

School engagement forms a key part of our newly launched club strategy.

This promotes our commitment to our local community whilst creating opportunities to engage new fans who may not have previously shown an interest in football, or who may have supported another team. We want to encourage a new generation of fans, to bring more young people into the stadium. By involving ourselves at a primary level, this gives us the best opportunity to introduce new fans who will come along with their parents.

James Bolton and Thierry Small got pictures with the Kilbarchan Primary School boys' and girls' football teams. The boys had just returned from a local tournament.

Peter Urminsky agrees contract extension until 2026

St Mirren Football Club is happy to confirm that Peter Urminsky has signed a contract extension which keeps him at the club until summer 2026.

The six-foot-five Slovakian goalkeeper joined Saints in January 2020 and went on to have loan spells with Ayr United and Stenhousemuir before making his first-team debut in July 2022 against Cowdenbeath in the Viaplay Cup.

Peter made further starts against Airdrieonians and FC Edinburgh before starting his first cinch Premiership match against Rangers on the final day of the 2022/23 season.

Manager Stephen Robinson said: "We're really pleased that Peter has extended his contract.

"He is a good young goalkeeper who is continually improving while working with goalkeeping coach Jamie Langfield and the other goalkeepers. We're happy to have him commit until 2026."

Peter added: "I love it at St Mirren. I enjoy every single day working with the players, with the staff and it's always positive.

"I feel like I have developed well in my time at the club working with Jamie and others. It'll be four years in January since I joined the club and it's great to extend my deal."
