Declan Gallagher joins St Mirren

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Scotland international Declan Gallagher on a two-year deal.

The 31-year-old defender joins Saints following his departure from fellow cinch Premiership side Aberdeen and becomes our sixth signing of the summer.

Declan joins Saints with a wealth of experience having made almost 400 career appearances and the club has beaten a host of clubs from Scotland and England to secure the signing of the Scotland international.

After beginning his youth career with Hamilton Academical and Celtic, Declan would go on to play for Clyde, Dundee and Livingston – playing a major role in the latter’s promotion to the Premiership in 2018.

Declan signed for Motherwell in 2019 and his impressive form for the Fir Park side saw him earn the first of his nine caps for the Scotland national team before moving on to Aberdeen in 2021. He would go on to make 23 appearances for the Dons during the 2021/22 season.

Declan will join up with the squad tomorrow ahead of their pre-season training camp in Northern Ireland.

Ryan Strain keen to add to family legacy

Ryan Strain was raised on stories of St Mirren by his Hall of Fame grandad Gerry Baker.

Now the 25-year-old is keen to write his own chapter in the history of the Saints after agreeing a two-year deal at the SMiSA Stadium.

As a youngster, Ryan's grandad Gerry regaled him with tales of his footballing past. Gerry may have only spent two years at St Mirren, but it was a remarkably fruitful spell in which he scored 66 goals in 81 games - including a record 10 goals in a Scottish Cup tie against Glasgow University in 1960. The St Mirren Hall of Famer also netted in every single round including the final when Saints won the Scottish Cup in 1959.

It wasn't just Gerry who had made his family proud with his sporting achievements. His brother Joe Baker was also an accomplished footballer who scored over 300 goals, while his daughter - Ryan's mum - competed at the Olympic Games.

Now it's Ryan who wants to seize his opportunity to add to his family's incredible legacy.

Everyone says it's written in the stars," Ryan told stmirren.com

"It means the world especially to my mum and her side of the family. It probably hasn't really sunk in yet. They couldn’t believe it and I’m just buzzing to be here.

"Growing up they were massive St Mirren fans because grandad made them. My grandad told me a lot of stories and I was very proud of him.

"I was reading a lot of stuff in the stadium and looking at the pictures and just seeing what he did at St Mirren. Seeing him on the Hall of Fame wall is amazing and hopefully I can continue that legacy for the club.

"My mum and dad will try to get here for the first game and we are still close with my grandad's brother's [Joe Baker] family.

"As soon as I found out St Mirren was interested I was straight on the plane. I can’t wait to put the shirt on and show the fans what I can do."

St Mirren sign Ryan Strain on two-year deal

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Strain on a deal until summer 2024.

Ryan joins Saints on the two-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.

The 25-year-old began his youth career at English Premier League side Aston Villa before moving to Australia where he played with Modbury Jets and Adelaide United. Ryan then spent last season with Maccabi Haifa where he would make 14 appearances – four of which came in UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Incredibly, Ryan is already well versed in the history of St Mirren with his grandfather Gerry Baker having played for the club between 1958-1960.

Gerry’s two-year spell at Saints saw him 81 games and score 66 goals including a goal in our Scottish Cup Final win over Aberdeen in 1959 as well as taking a place in the St Mirren Hall of Fame. Indeed, Gerry scored in every round on our way to winning the Scottish Cup with eight goals throughout the tournament.

Ryan admitted that his grandfather’s history with Saints was a big factor in him joining the club.

Speaking to stmirren.com, Ryan said: "My grandad told me a lot of stories and I was very proud of him.

I was reading a lot of stuff in the stadium and looking at the pictures and just seeing what he did at St Mirren. It’s amazing and to represent that legacy means a lot to me.

"It means the world especially to my mum and her side of the family. They couldn’t believe it and I’m just buzzing to be here. As soon as I found out St Mirren was interested I was straight on the plane. I can’t wait to put the shirt on and show the fans what I can do.

"I’m a right-back/right wing-back who can also play in midfield. I’d say I’m attacking full-back who likes to get forward and get balls into the box.

"I learnt a lot in Israel last year even though it didn’t go as planned with injuries and I can’t wait to get started here and prove myself again."

Help a Buddie

Our new Help a Buddie initiative is now live.

Help a Buddie is a brand new initiative where St Mirren supporters have the chance to purchase and donate a match ticket for those less fortunate.

With the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand now retained for ALL home matches in 2022/23, we want to give as many Saints the opportunity to come and be part of the St Mirren Family.

Each £25 ticket bought will be shared amongst some of the most vulnerable in our community and give them a chance to come along to the SMiSA Stadium where they might not have had the opportunity before.

The Help A Buddie scheme will run for the entirety of the 2022/23 season and with your help we can hopefully welcome thousands of people to St Mirren as we prove what an important role our club plays in the community. Click HERE to Help A Buddie.

Further, as a result of the decision to retain all three stands for home fans this season we are also launching our incentive for a one-off voluntary contribution of £30 to supplement the loss of income. The survey intimated that fans were willing to support this initiative so we invite you to contribute to this scheme. Click HERE to make your contribution.

Season Ticket Update

#OurFans

To simplify and streamline our season ticket offering for the 2022-2023 season, we have undertaken a collaborative review across the organisation. You will note that the categories available are now Adult, Concession (including Over 65s, 13–17-Year-Olds, Students, and our new concession supporting those who are Unemployed), Family, U12, Ambulant and Wheelchair. We ask that you select the corresponding category when you renew your seat(s).

There is further supportive information outlined below for ambulant and family tickets. Please note that if you are selecting a concession category for the first time, we will ask that you provide proof of this before you collect your new season ticket.

We want to remain competitive on the pitch and give the manager the best resources we possibly can in our quest for a top six position. After freezing pricing for the past three seasons, we have decided to increase prices to help meet the rising costs that are affecting all businesses and individuals. Rest assured this decision was not made lightly and we have endeavoured to reduce the impact as much as possible. However, we continue to offer great value for money in comparison with other Premiership clubs. For the full statement from John Needham the Chairman please click HERE.

Early bird prices will run until

#OurFamily

We are delighted to say our family ticket now includes two adults and three children under the age of 17, as opposed to under the age of 13, offering excellent value for money for a family day out. This ticket is approximately £30 per family per game which is a massive saving on walk-up prices, costing up to £95 per visit. More information on purchasing this bundle ticket is outlined below. Please note that family ticket renewals, or to transfer to a family ticket must be done at the ticket office. This is a special ticket bundle and cannot be purchased online.

Please note for all season ticket holders in the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand, your ticket, as in previous seasons, does not include the Old Firm games. When the decision is finalised regarding retention of this stand, following the fan survey, we will provide information on attendance for these fixtures.

#OurBuddies

We have introduced a concession category for anyone who is unemployed. This will be the same price as all other concession tickets and save you over £150 depending on where you sit. We hope that this will help those affected to afford to continue to come along and support your team. We ask that you select this category during your renewal to take advantage of this offer. Please note that you will be asked to produce proof of your status when you collect your ticket, we will only require this once per season.

We will also be introducing a scheme to allow you to support your fellow Buddies by buying tickets for them to come to games, more information will be available in due course.

#OurSupport

We encourage the purchase of season tickets if you regularly attend matches because the savings made on walk-up prices are significant. However, we know season tickets are a big financial commitment and we continue to offer interest free payment plans available for those who may wish to spread the cost of a season ticket. The ticket office will support you in the provision of this payment option so please visit them to renew your seat during the loyalty period. However, please note as in previous years, the payment plan is based on full price tickets because we are unable to offer early bird on this plan.

#OurBenefits

We are excited to announce our latest list of season ticket holder benefits and discounts.

With your 2022/23 Season card you will have access to all discounts outlined here. We would like to thank all the organisations involved for providing such generous offers to our fans.

Important ticketing update regarding friendly against Linfield

Due to a technical problem discovered with the barcodes on the tickets for our pre-season friendly away to Linfield, the hosts have had to cancel all existing tickets to rectify the error.

Linfield have requested that all supporters holding a ticket for this game issued on or before Saturday 18th June delete their ticket, as they will no longer be valid.

Tickets are on sale again and all supporters are asked to re-book their tickets. The 'new' tickets will still be offered free of charge but will be limited to two per order.

St Mirren fans will be able to re-book their tickets through the Away Supporters link on Linfield's website when sales go live.

Renewal deadline approaching for season ticket holders to guarantee their seat

Season ticket holders that have yet to renew have until Sunday 19th June to guarantee their own seat ahead of the new season.

All remaining seats will become available to purchase from 10am on Monday 20th June.

Toyosi Olusanya joins St Mirren

St Mirren Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Toyosi Olusanya from Middlesborough.

A 24-year-old forward, Toyosi becomes our fourth signing of the summer after agreeing a two-year deal with Saints.

Toyosi began his career with AFC Wimbledon and scored on his professional debut at just 18-years-old.

After trials with Chelsea and Wolves as well as reported interest from Manchester City, he would find himself at English Championship side Middlesbrough via Walston Casuals, Fleet Town, Gosport Borough, Chestnut and Billericay Town.

Speaking to stmirren.com after completing the move, Toyosi said: "It feels great and I'm happy to have things done early.

The manager has really sold this place to me and I've met some of the staff already and everyone seems lovely so I can't wait to get started."

Manager Stephen Robinson was pleased to further add to his squad, tell stmirren.com: "Toyosi is someone I’ve watched for a while and I’m delighted to have him here on a permanent contract

He can play anywhere across the front three, is strong, lightning quick and gives us that option to put the ball in behind.

"I believe we have gained a real asset and he’ll add to the competition at the top end of the park. We’ve brought athleticism into the team with our two forward signings which complements what we already have here."
