Keith Lasley gets to work as Chief Operating Officer

Keith Lasley has officially joined St Mirren today as he gets underway as the club's new Chief Operating Officer.

It was announced in April that Keith would join the club following the conclusion of the season after the retirement of Chief Executive Tony Fitzpatrick in March.

Today marked Keith's first day at St Mirren and he is looking forward to tackling his new role.

"I'm very excited," he told stmirren.com

"I grew up five minutes down the road so I know the club, I know the potential it has, the fanbase it has and I know there are some very good people working within the club at the moment. For me to come in and be a part of driving it forward is something that is so exciting for me and I can't wait to get started now.

"I'm in the process of completing my Masters at Manchester Metropolitan University in Sporting Directorship. It's something I think suits my skillset and hopefully I can bring a drive and an energy to this job. I'm sure there will be aspects of the job I'll need to learn as I go but I'm willing to do that and I'm hungry to do that.

"While there is a lot of good practice and a lot of good things we did at Motherwell over the years, what I'm conscious of is that every club has its own story and it's up to me to immerse myself in this football club. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone in the building, the supporters, the local community and everybody connected to the club."

Saints finish ninth as season draws to a close with draw at Pittodrie

St Mirren finished the season in ninth place in the cinch Premiership following a goalless draw with Aberdeen.

It wasn't a classic at Pittodrie as neither side could make the breakthrough as the curtain closed on the 2021/22 season.

Stephen Robinson made three changes to the side that drew with Livingston on Wednesday night with Richard Tait, Alan Power and Jay Henderson coming in for Joe Shaughnessy, Ryan Flynn and Curtis Main.

The Dons started the brighter of the two sides with Lewis Ferguson's curling effort forcing Alnwick to tip over on six minutes. But the Buddies grew into the game with St Mirren Young Player of the Year Jay Henderson volleying over from 20 yards before Marcus Fraser met a great delivery from Scott Tanser but headed into the arms of Joe Lewis.

Alnwick made a brilliant one-handed stop to turn behind Connor Barron's strike on 37 minutes. The Aberdeen youngster was found in space in the Saints box by Jonny Hayes, but Alnwick was down quickly to force the strike wide.

Jak Alnwick kept a clean sheet for the fourth game in a row. It's the first time Saints have kept four consecutive clean sheets in the top-flight since the last two games of 2010/11 and the first two games of the 2011/12 season.

There was controversy in the final minute of the half when Aberdeen were initially awarded a penalty for a handball from Tanser. But after consulting with the linesman, referee Don Robertson overturned the decision as it appeared that David Bates had pushed the Buddies full-back.

Eamonn Brophy was introduced on 51 minutes and was inches away from giving Saints the lead within six minutes of his arrival. Good footwork saw the the forward create space inside the box but lashed wide.

Alnwick did well to push away a powerful strike from Hayes as the game entered the final third. And it was the Dons who could have won it in the closing stages with Alnwick pushing behind a Liam Harvey effort before brilliantly tipping over Declan Gallagher's header from the resultant corner.

There was just enough time in the game remaining for Saints to give a debut to 16-year-old St Mirren Youth Academy graduate Aiden Gilmartin as the game finished 0-0 and saw the Buddies finish above Aberdeen in the cinch Premiership.

Stephen Robinson reflects on final game of the season

I have to give credit to the players today. They dug in and we've got a point. I can't ask for more in terms of effort."

The manager gives his take on the final game of the season as Saints drew with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Up Next: Aberdeen v St Mirren (15th May)

The curtain comes down on the 2021/22 season on Sunday with Saints travelling to Aberdeen on the final day.

St Mirren sit in eighth place in the cinch Premiership following a 0-0 draw with Livingston at the SMiSA Stadium in the final home league match of the season. That saw the Buddies make it three clean sheets in a row after wins previously over Dundee (2-0) and St Johnstone (1-0).

Victory on Sunday would see Stephen Robinson's side guarantee an eighth place finish ahead of Aberdeen and Hibernian. A win would also see Saints finish the season on 46 points - eclipsing last season's points tally of 45 which was the best in the top flight since 1925/26.

Aberdeen are three points below Saints in 10th place having lost 1-0 to St Johnstone on Wednesday night. The Dons have lost three, drawn one and won one of their last five with their only win coming over Dundee at Pittodrie at the end of April.

Previous

Saints have come out on top in two of the three meetings between the sides this season.

The Buddies won 3-2 when the Dons came to Paisley in September in the first match between the two this season. Connor Ronan scored a double while Curtis Main was credited with the other. It was Ronan again that netted the only goal in a 1-0 Saints win at the SMiSA Stadium in January.

The Dons ran out 4-1 winners when Saints visited Pittodrie in December.

St Mirren's last league win at Pittodrie was in May 2011 when Gareth Wardlaw scored in a 1-0 victory in the Granite City.

Manager felt his side deserved to win in final home match of the season

I thought we deserved to win the game. There was a lot of good, positive stuff."

The manager gave his assessment on tonight's final home match of the 2021/22 season.

Final home game of the season finishes goalless

St Mirren's final home game of the 2021/22 season ended goalless as the Saints drew with Livingston.

It had all the feelings of an end of season game and while both sides had chances throughout the game it didn't feel like either side would make the breakthrough.

The manager was forced into one change to the side that defeated Dundee on Saturday. Richard Tait missed out with a foot injury and was replaced by Ryan Flynn.

A minute applause was observed just before kick to pay respect to those that have sadly passed away during the course of the season.

After a tepid opening 20 minutes both sides created big chances in a frantic five minute spell. It was the visitors who had the first of these when Alan Forrest managed to weave his way past Ryan Flynn and Marcus Fraser before being denied by the feet of Saints goalie Jak Alnwick.

St Mirren's best chance of the half came three minutes later when Scott Tanser's beautiful delivery from a free-kick on the right met Joe Shaughnessy but crashed off the post before bouncing wide. Caleb Chukwuemeka wasn't far away with a header on 26 minutes - glancing wide from ex-Saint Sean Kelly's cross.

With less than 10 minutes of the half remaining it was Forrest again causing problems for the Saints defence as he burst into the box, but his powerful strike was pushed away by Alnwick.

It was a third clean sheet in a row for Jak Alnwick (Image: Allan Picken)

And in the final seconds of the opening 45, Joel Nouble broke the offside trap and looked primed to roll into the net only for Shaughnessy to make a brilliant block which allowed Alnwick to gather.

The start of the second-half played out much like the beginning of the first with it taking until just after the hour mark for the first real opportunity. Alnwick made a terrific save to push a strong Devlin strike over the bar.

Saints were in the ascendancy in the closing stages with Greive going close with 12 minutes to go when he flicked a Kiltie ball from the left just by the near post. Conor McCarthy had a good chance on 87 minutes when he rose the highest to head a Tanser corner wide. Substitute Jay Henderson looked like he was going to win it for Saints a minute later when his shot beat the goalkeeper only for Livi captain Devlin to clear off the line.

Livingston could have stolen all three points at the death but Odin Bailey's effort in the final moments crashed off the bar.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

Manager wants to finish season off in style for supporters

Stephen Robinson wants to St Mirren to end the season on a high as a thank you to supporters.

Saints secured their status in the cinch Premiership next season with back-to-back wins over St Johnstone and Dundee.

And now his side face Livingston at the SMiSA Stadium on Wednesday night in the final home match of the 2021/22 season with a seventh place finish very much still the aim.

The manager knows tomorrow's opposition will be provide a stern test for his side, but he hopes his side can pick up the points as they look to take the fight to finish best of the rest to the final day.

We’re looking to build on what’s been done recently," Stephen told the press this afternoon.

"We’ve got two big results in a pressure situation and now it’s about building for next season.

"We owe it to the fans for sticking with us all season to finish it off in style."

"Livingston are a hard team to play against," he continued.

"It’s big credit to David Martindale because people thought they might go at the start of the season but they’ve turned it around.

"If we get three points it certainly gives us an opportunity to finish seventh.

"That’s what we’re going all out to do."

Special presentation made to Tony Fitzpatrick

A special presentation was made to Tony Fitzpatrick at half-time in Saturday's match against Dundee to thank him for his service to St Mirren Football Club.

Tony served St Mirren with distinction during a wonderful career as a player, manager and Chief Executive.

Beginning his Saints journey almost 50 years ago, Tony Fitzpatrick’s name has been synonymous with St Mirren since making his debut way back in 1973.

As a player, Tony made over 450 appearances for the Buddies and remains the second highest appearance maker in club history behind Hugh 'Shuggie' Murray. These two spells as a player saw him captain the club, play in Europe and in our Scottish Cup win in 1987.

Unfortunately, Tony had lost his 1987 Scottish Cup winner's medal. However, the St Mirren board of directors commissioned a replacement medal for Tony which was presented to him by Alan Wardrop.
