Kieran Offord leaves to join Linfield

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Kieran Offord has left the club to join Linfield on a permanent deal subject to international clearance.

The forward moves to the NIFL Premiership side for an undisclosed six figure fee. St Mirren will also benefit from further adds on and a future sell-on fee.

Kieran’s St Mirren contract was due to expire in the summer with the club offering the 20-year-old a new deal. However, with Kieran able to explore his options beyond the summer, the club also accepted two bids from NIFL Premiership sides. Kieran has now chosen to move on to Linfield.

The forward came through the St Mirren Youth Academy and made his first team debut as a 17-year-old in a 0-0 draw against Celtic in the William Hill Premiership back in December 2021. He featured a further 13 times for the Saints as well as loan spells with Alloa Athletic, Edinburgh City and Stirling Albion.

In June 2024, Kieran would join NIFL Premiership side Crusaders on loan where he impressed with 14 goals in 26 appearances for the Crues.

Everyone at St Mirren Football Club would like to thank Kieran for his contributions during his time at the club and wish him the very best of luck in his future.

U18s into the last four after penalty shoot-out win

St Mirren U18s secured their place in the last four of the Scottish Youth Cup after a penalty shoot-out victory over Queen's Park at Lochinch Sports Pavilion.

Grant Tamosevicius saved two from the spot, while Lyle Hunter, Owen Carey and Struan Thompson all scored to ensure a 3-2 victory on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Queen's had the better of the early chances with Tamosevicius making a good block at his near post on 20 minutes.

But it was young Saints who would hit the front when Evan Mooney opened the scoring from the penalty spot. The forward, who had gone close just a few minutes before with a strike that was pushed away by the Queen's Park goalkeeper, was fouled in the box. The referee showed no hesitation in awarded the penalty and Mooney tucked it away to put the Buddies ahead on 34 minutes.

Queen's Park drew level three minutes before the interval when their number two scored from close range.

Saints stepped up the pace heading into the final portion of the match. A good ball across the face from Mooney found Theo McCormick, but the forward was under pressure from an opposing defender and he didn't get enough purchase on the effort which allowed the Queen's Park goalkeeper to gather comfortably.

Mooney almost turned provider on the 87 minute when another similar ball across from the right found Thompson who had nipped in at the near post. He got a touch on it that looked like it would be enough to score the goal that sent Saints through, only for the Queen's Park stopper to turn behind. Carrick McEvoy came agonisingly close to an injury-time winner when he cracked a powerful effort off the bar.

Penalties would be required with Tamosevicius saving Queen's Park's first spot-kick. McEvoy also saw his penalty saved by the Spiders' goalkeeper. Lyle Hunter would level it at 1-1 after Queen's Park went ahead in the shoot-out.

Tamosevicius saved again which allowed Owen Carey to put Saints 2-1 ahead after three penalties each. Queen's Park netted their fourth penalty with Thompson firing home with aplomb to keep Saints' advantage. That would turn out to be the winning spot-kick after Queen's Park fifth and final penalty rattled off the bar.

St Mirren return to winning ways in the league after victory in Aberdeen

St Mirren returned to winning ways in the William Hill Premiership in emphatic fashion with a brilliant win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Toyosi Olusanya opened the scoring early before Mikael Mandron's brace saw Saints win 3-0 in the Granite City.

Stephen Robinson's men hit the front with just seven minutes of the clock when Olusanya capitalised on a Dons defensive error. Slobodan Rubezic attempted to deal with Richard Taylor's ball over the top, but he nodded beyond goalkeeper Ross Doohan had raced off his line. That allowed Olusanya to run on to the loose ball and knock into the empty net.

Zach Hemming had to be called upon five minutes later to deny Aberdeen a quick response. The Saints stopper was down well to push away a low driving strike from Jeppe Okkels before blocking Pape Gueye on the follow up.

Saints added a second 10 minutes before the interval. Olusanya showed brilliant pace and strength as he outmuscled and drove away from Rubezic. His pick out was perfect for Mandron who slotted low into the bottom corner to double our advantage.

Both sides made a change at the break with Greg Kiltie replacing captain Mark O'Hara, while Ante Palaversa was introduced by the hosts in place of Sivert Heltne Nilsen. Palaversa came close to pulling one back for the hosts inside a minute of the restart. Alexander Jensen's cross was headed out by Richard Taylor, but fell to Palaversa who drilled just over the bar from around 16 yards out.

Pape Gueye headed just wide on 52 minutes as Aberdeen continued to pressure as they searched for route back. The forward rose the highest to meet Okkels' cross from the left, but sent the effort by the right-hand post.

Aberdeen made their third change of the game on 55 minutes when they brought Kevin Nisbet on in place of Leighton Clarkson. He was inches away from reducing the Dons' deficit five minutes after his introduction when his free-kick from 25 yards clipped the bar.

Olusanya could have had his second of the afternoon a few minutes later when Kiltie's header found the goalscorer in space. He attempted the spectacular with an overhead kick but couldn't connect.

With 20 minutes remaining, Hemming was called into action again with the Saints stopper making a wonderful reaction save to turn away Nisbet's close-range effort.

Despite pressure from Aberdeen, it was Saints who would add a third. It was a stunning hit from Mandron as he made his way on to a long ball over the top from Alex Gogic. The forward took it first time and lashed beyond Doohan from 20 yards in what will definitely be a goal of the season contender to put the seal on a memorable win on the road.

Lewis Jamieson leaves for America as he joins Sacramento Republic FC

Lewis Jamieson has departed St Mirren Football Club to join USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC on a permanent deal, subject to international clearance.

The St Mirren Youth Academy graduate's contract was due to expire this summer and the club would have been due training compensation. However, we have come to an agreement with Sacramento for an undisclosed fee including a significant sell on.

Coming through the ranks at Saints, Lewis made his St Mirren first-team debut away to Rangers in August 2020. All in, the 22-year-old would make 35 appearances for the Buddies, scoring one goal - a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Hibernian in the William Hill Premiership in November 2023.

The forward joined William Hill Championship side Raith Rovers on loan in August and now links up with former Rovers boss Neil Collins who took charge at Sacramento in December.

St Mirren Football Club thanks Lewis for his contributions during his time at the club and wish him all the best in his future.

The Opposition

Aberdeen secured their passage into the Fifth Round of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup at the weekend with a 3-0 win away to League Two side Elgin City on Saturday.

The Dons' blistering start to the season, where they picked up 31 points from a possible 33 in the William Hill Premiership at the beginning of the campaign, came to a halt when they lost 2-1 to Saints at The SMiSA Stadium in November.

Goals from Toyosi Olusanya and Richard Taylor saw Stephen Robinson's men become the first to inflict defeat upon the Dons this season. Since then, Jimmy Thelin's side have been winless in their following 11 league matches, but remain in a good position in the league - sitting in fourth place, two points behind third place Dundee United.

Both sides have a win apiece in the two meetings this season with Aberdeen winning 3-1 when the sides met at Pittodrie in August.

Saints' last victory away at Pittodrie was in December 2023 when goals from Mark O'Hara, Jonah Ayunga and Greg Kiltie saw us win 3-0 in the Granite city.
