Up Next: Celtic v St Mirren (19th Apr)

We're aiming to reach our second cup final of the season as we get set to take on Celtic in the last four of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup on Sunday.

Saints - who won the Premier Sports Cup after a historic 3-1 win over the Hoops in December - face the Glasgow side again on our return to Barclays Hampden.

Match Details

Celtic v St Mirren
Competition: Scottish Gas Scottish Cup
Date: Sunday 19th April 2026
Kick-off: 2pm
Venue: Barclays Hampden

Road to Hampden

Our road to Hampden began at the Fourth Round stage in January where we were drawn away to fellow Premiership side Livingston. Roland Idowu gave us an early lead before Scott Arfield levelled for the Lions. Neither could be separated following extra-time with match heading to penalties. Evan Mooney, Marcus Fraser, Liam Donnelly and Malik Dijksteel scored to see us progress 4-3 in the shoot-out.

The Fifth Round saw us face a trip to Airdrie to take on Championship outfit Airdrieonians. Jacob Devaney's first St Mirren goal gave us a first-half lead. But the Buddies were pegged back as Euan Henderson equalised on 65 minutes and that would be enough to take the game to extra-time. A penalty shoot-out wouldn't be required this time around with Idowu netting deep into injury-time to set up a quarter-final tie at home to Partick Thistle.

First-half goals from Dan Nlundulu and Jake Young set us on our way to victory over the Jags at The SMiSA Stadium. Ben Stanway would pull one back for the visitors with a sensational strike in the second-half, but Saints would progress to the last four.

Jake Young wheels away after goal against Partick Thistle

Celtic's route to the semi-finals started with a victory over junior side Auchinleck Talbot at Rugby Park. Johnny Kenny and Sebastian Tounekti scored the goals in a 2-0 win for Martin O'Neill's side. The Hoops came dangerously close to exiting the cup when they hosted Dundee at Celtic Park in the Fifth Round. Ethan Hamilton gave the Dee the lead at Parkhead and it looked like it was going to be enough to send Steven Pressley's men through until Junior Adamu levelled in the final minute to take the game to extra-time. Tounekti scored the only goal in extra-time to win the match 2-1.

A trip to Ibrox was next as Celtic took on their rivals Rangers at the quarter-final stage. Neither side could be separated after a goalless 120 minutes at Ibrox. Penalty kicks were required and Celtic netted all four of their attempts, while Rangers missed twice to see the Hoops into the semi-finals.

Head to Head

The Buddies were victorious on that famous December afternoon when the sides met at Barclays Hampden in the Premier Sports Cup Final. Marcus Fraser gave us an early lead, but Reo Hatate levelled to keep it poised at 1-1 at half-time. Jonah Ayunga netted twice in the second 45 to secure a historic win for the Saints.

Celtic have edged each of the three league meetings between the sides this season, winning 1-0 in all three.

John Sutton visits St Mirren FC Charitable Foundation Fit and Fed Camp

Children at St Mirren FC Charitable Foundation's Fit & Fed camp in Ferguslie enjoyed a special visit this week. St Mirren Hall of Fame inductee John Sutton spent time with them, while the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup added to the occasion.

As Saints prepare for this weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic, the visit builds momentum around the club. After lifting the Premier Sports Cup against the Hoops earlier this season, excitement continues to grow.

During the session, the kids met John, took part in a Q&A and got up close to the Scottish Cup.

The Scottish Football Association is visiting all four semi-finalists this week to highlight the impact of their associated foundations on their communities. At St Mirren FC Charitable Foundation, Fit & Fed supports this work by complementing the Scottish FA’s Extra Time programme.

Moments like this show the power of football. As the semi-final approaches, it strengthens the connection between the club, the Foundation and the community.

Scottish Gas also gifted tickets to children at each event, enabling more young fans to experience the excitement of the Scottish Gas Men's Scottish Cup this weekend.

John said: "It's fantastic to be back at my old club and see the amazing work that's going on. I'm involved in a community club myself, and I see the benefits of football - from children up to those in their 80s!

We all love scoring goals. We all like winning games now and again. But I think the friendships you make along the way and having a good time with your pals is probably more important than any of that.

"I've been involved in my own Easter Camp this week which has been great and it's nice to pop by with the Scottish Cup trophy and see the positive work being done by the St Mirren FC Charitable Foundation and the Scottish FA's Extra Time programme."

Decent performance on the road but Saints edged out by Celtic

St Mirren were edged out by Celtic at Celtic Park as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's first-half goal saw the points remain in Glasgow's East End.

But Saints can take encouragement heading into next weekend's Scottish Gas Scottish Cup semi-final against the Hoops after a good display at Parkhead. The Buddies moved the ball around well and controlled large parts of the second-half, but failed to really trouble Viljami Sinisalo in the Celtic goal and left empty-handed.

Interim manager Craig McLeish named the same starting lineup that defeated Aberdeen 2-0 at The SMiSA Stadium last Saturday. McLeish had stressed to his players heading into the game the importance of seeing out the early period of the match and Celtic did control the opening stages with the offside flag denying Oxlade-Chamberlain a goal on six minutes Callum McGregor's powerful long-range strike stung the palms of Shamal George who could only push out as far to Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Englishman volleyed the rebound home but was rightly denied by the linesman's flag.

Saints did settle after early pressure from Celtic. Jonah Ayunga flashed a low strike wide of the near on nine minutes before Miguel Freckleton's long-range effort was held by Sinisalo in the Celtic goal.

However, Celtic would take the lead on 16 minutes just after Saints best spell of the early part of the game. It was another McGregor strike that caused the danger, deflecting into the path of Oxlade-Chamberlain who slotted into the corner.

Saints were dealt a blow around the half-hour mark when George was caught late by Tomas Cvancara who was sliding into to try to connect with a low ball across the face. The Saints stopper couldn't shake off the issue and had to be replaced by Ryan Mullen. Mullen's first task was to gather a curling effort from Benjamin Nygren from the edge of the area on 38 minutes.

Kieran Tierney had to make a vital intervention for the hosts as we headed into six minutes of added time at the end of the first-half. Jacob Devaney's clipped ball found Mikael Mandron at the back post with Tierney having to get himself in front of the forward to knock it wide. Liam Donnelly came close in the final moments of the half. He rose highest to meet Declan John's corner but nodded over.

Saints would go on to control large spells of the second 45 without creating the opportunity they would crave to draw level. Alex Gogic met a Mark O'Hara cross just before the hour mark, but headed over with the flag eventually being raised in any case.

Despite being the better side, the Buddies still had to be alert to Celtic's danger. Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho turned a Daizen Maeda cross just by the post while Donnelly made a terrific challenge to deny the Nigerian forward the chance to go one-on-one with Mullen.

Saints' opportunities were limited to a shot from distance from the impressive Devaney that was routine for Sinisalo before substitute Roland Idowu shot into the arms of the goalkeeper from a tight angle.

Celtic saw the final minutes out to take all three points. Saints remain two points ahead of Kilmarnock who occupy the relegation play-off spot as we head into the split. Focus turns to our Scottish Cup semi-final contest against Celtic at Barclays Hampden next Sunday.

St Mirren Support 'Tackling Testicular Cancer' Campaign

St Mirren Football Club will support the 'Tackling Testicular Cancer' campaign this weekend, joining clubs across Scottish football to raise awareness of the most common cancer in young men, most commonly affecting those aged 15–45.

Led by Cahonas Scotland, the campaign aims to encourage men to become more aware of their bodies, carry out regular self-checks, and seek help early if they notice anything unusual.

Testicular cancer has one of the highest survival rates of any cancer when detected early. However, too many men still delay speaking up or are unsure what to look for.

Through the reach of football, the campaign is designed to get a simple but important message into dressing rooms, terraces and communities across the country.

Checking yourself takes less than a minute, and it could save your life.

Ritchie Marshall CEO and Founder of Cahonas said: "Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men, yet too many still don’t know how to check themselves or feel comfortable speaking about it.

"By working with clubs across Scotland, we can reach men in environments where they already feel connected, whether that’s in the stands, the dressing room or watching at home.

If this campaign encourages even one more person to check themselves or seek help earlier, it will have made a real difference."

Team News: Celtic v St Mirren (11th Apr)

Craig McLeish names an unchanged starting lineup for today's trip to Celtic Park in the William Hill Premiership.

The Saints interim manager goes with the same side that defeated Aberdeen 2-0 at The SMiSA Stadium last weekend.

That means that Mikael Mandron and Jonah Ayunga continue to lead the line for the Buddies. Dan Nlundulu misses out entirely after being a doubt and that means 16-year-old Saints Youth Academy player Luke Douglas comes on to the bench.

St Mirren: George, Donnelly, Gogic, Freckleton, O'Hara (c), Phillips, Devaney, Campbell, John, Mandron, Ayunga
Subs: Mullen, Richardson, King, Tanser, McMenamin, Idowu, Douglas, Etete, Young

Celtic: Sinisalo, Ralston, Trusty, Scales, Tierney, McGregor (c), Oxlade-Chamberlain, Nygren, Yang, Maeda, Cvancara
Subs: Doohan, Arthur, Saracchi, Engels, Hatate, McCowan, Forrest, Tounekti, Iheanacho
