Mark O'Hara and Jonah Ayunga visit Erskine Veterans Charity

St Mirren captain Mark O'Hara and forward Jonah Ayunga made a visit to Veterans and staff at Erskine Veterans Charity.

The pair visited the charity’s Veterans Village, just a few miles from The SMiSA Stadium, last Thursday where they proudly showed off the Premier Sports Cup trophy won in December when Saints defeated Celtic 3–1 on a famous day at Hampden.

Ayunga fired in two goals after defender Marcus Fraser headed home the opener as the Buddies lifted the League Cup for only the second time in their history.

And the famous trophy caused a real buzz when it arrived at Erskine. Many residents and staff are lifelong Saints supporters and were thrilled to meet the players, hold the cup and relive the big win.

Wing Commander Ian Cumming MBE, Chief Executive of Erskine Veterans Charity, said the visit was a huge lift for residents.

"Welcoming Mark, Jonah and the League Cup to Erskine was a wonderful moment for our veterans and staff," he said.

"Many of our residents have followed St Mirren all their lives, so seeing the trophy up close and meeting the players was a real thrill.

"Erskine has supported Scotland’s veterans for more than a century and days like this bring enormous joy to the people we care for. We are very grateful to the club for sharing such a proud moment in their history with our veterans and staff."

O’Hara said it meant a lot for the team to bring the trophy to the charity.

It’s incredibly special for us to bring the League Cup here and spend time with the veterans," he said.

"Clubs like St Mirren play a massive part in the local community and Erskine means a huge amount to people across Paisley and Renfrewshire.

"To see the smiles when people held the trophy or talked about the game at Hampden was brilliant. The sacrifices these veterans have made are extraordinary so it means a lot to share this moment with them and the staff here at Erskine."

Founded in 1916 to support soldiers returning from the First World War, Erskine remains Scotland’s largest provider of dedicated veterans’ care.

Today the charity supports former servicemen and women across the country through specialist care homes, family cottages and supported accommodation at its Veterans Village in Bishopton, alongside activity centres and home support services that help veterans stay connected to their communities.

Saints were edged out by Rangers at The SMiSA Stadium on Sunday as the Buddies fell to a 1-0 loss. Tuur Rommens first-half goal was enough to give the Ibrox side three points in Paisley. Saints remain in 10th place in the William Hill Premiership, but Kilmarnock's victory over Hearts on Saturday night saw them move level on points.

Falkirk's top six position was all but assured at the weekend after they drew 1-1 with Aberdeen at Pittodrie. The Bairns sit nine points above Dundee United in seventh with nine points to play for. Any positive result for John McGlynn's men on Saturday will secure their top six place. The Bairns have won their last two home matches, winning 5-1 against Kilmarnock in the William Hill Premiership before defeating Dundee United 2-1 in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals the following week.

Both sides have a win apiece in the two meetings this season. Goals from Declan John and Mikael Mandron saw Saints win 2-1 at The Falkirk Stadium in September. That remains our sole victory away from home in the William Hill Premiership this season. Falkirk ran out 2-0 winners at The SMiSA Stadium in January thanks to goals from Finn Yeats and Calvin Miller.

Buddies narrow defeat at home to Rangers

St Mirren were edged out by Rangers at The SMiSA Stadium as Saints fell to a 1-0 defeat against the Ibrox side. Tuur Rommens' first-half goal was enough to secure the points for the Light Blues.

Craig McLeish took interim charge of the Buddies and made four changes with Richard King, Scott Tanser, Liam Donnelly and Jacob Devaney coming in from the start. Marcus Fraser, Declan John and Keanu Baccus all missed out through injury, while Jake Young dropped to the bench.

After the news that John and Baccus would be unavailable, the Buddies were dealt a further blow early in the game when Alex Gogic collided with Jayden Richardson forcing the latter to be substituted after suffering a nasty gash above his eye.

It was a pretty listless first half-an-hour with neither goalkeeper tested before the visitors opened the scoring on 31 minutes. Nico Raskin floated a ball to the back post where it evaded the Saints defence and found Rommens who knocked beyond Shamal George.

Saints failed to create any real clear cut chances in the opening 45. Our only real opportunity coming with less than two minutes to go until half-time when Dan Nlundulu got his head on a Killian Phillips cross, but it was easy for Jack Butland.

Rangers came close to adding a second 10 minutes after the restart when Raskin bulleted a header by the post after he met a James Tavernier free-kick. 'Gers skipper Tavernier then forced a wonderful save from George who turned the 20 yard curling effort by the post just before the hour mark. A minute later it was Saints' turn to try and carve out an opportunity. Miguel Freckleton went on a brilliant solo run down the right-hand side before finding Phillips. The Irishman laid it off for captain Mark O'Hara but his shot from the edge of the box was blocked.

Jonah Ayunga made his return from injury on 77 minutes, back in the fold after being sidelined through injury since December. But it was another substitute, Young, who would have the final opportunity to try and drag Saints back into the game. A long ball from George found the striker in behind Tavernier, but he skewed his effort well wide of target as the minutes ticked away.

Rangers had the ball in the net for a second time in stoppage time only for the offside flag to deny Thelo Aasgaard. Ultimately, one was enough for Rangers who move to within three points of league leaders Hearts.

Visitor Information

  • Electronic Ticketing System

At the SMiSA Stadium we have an electronic ticketing system in place at the turnstiles.

The process of using the system is fairly straight-forward and easy to use:

    • On entering the turnstile you will see the ticket reader.
    • Place your match ticket (with the barcode or QR code facing upwards) or smartcard – into the aperture
    • Once the ticket/smartcard is accepted into the system the green light will illuminate and an audio alert will sound after which you should hear the turnstile being unlocked
    • Push the turnstile gate and enter the stadium as you normally would.

The whole process will only take a few seconds.

Please note that there will be stewards in attendance to help where required.

  • Street Parking on Matchday

The Club has been made aware of problems occasioned by inconsiderate parking in the area of Tannahill Road.

Seemingly supporters are parking despite the presence of double yellow lines and as a consequence local bus routes are also being blocked because streets in this area are narrow and fans are parking on both sides. People, many of whom are elderly, are having to walk from Greenhill Road to their homes because buses can’t get access.

Residents who have cars parked in driveways are experiencing similar difficulties getting their vehicles in and out. On being approached by local residents some supporters have been somewhat aggressive which could lead to confrontation.

St Mirren Football Club strives to be a good neighbour and we would ask that ALL supporters attending the stadium not only park in accordance with local parking restrictions but also give consideration to the needs of local residents by parking sensibly so as not to occasion an unnecessary obstruction.

  • Picking Up & Dropping Off by Car on Match Day

We are also aware of problems with patrons parking at the front of the Main Stand to pick up disabled supporters at the end of the game. This area is a 'no parking' zone on match days (with cones on the road) and has to be kept clear for emergency access. It is an inappropriate location for disabled spectator uplifts, as not only does it cause an obstruction on the road, it also causes a danger to pedestrians leaving the stadium.

Please note that the designated pick-up/drop off points are either in Drums Avenue or the two lay-byes on Ferguslie Park Avenue.

  • Finding the SMiSA Stadium

  • Getting to the SMiSA Stadium

    BY ROAD

Follow signs for Paisley & Glasgow Airport. Exit the M8 at Junction 29 (St James’ Interchange) which is just after Glasgow Airport turn off if travelling east to west. Be careful not to exit on to the A737 which is signposted for Irvine. It is best to stay in the middle lane when passing the Airport as this leads naturally to the St James’ Interchange exit.

At the interchange take the first left onto a dual carriageway with some football parks on the left hand side. Follow this road and after a sharp right hand bend you should now be in Greenock Road. Then take your first right on to Clark Street and drive to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the stadium on the opposite side of the road.

    BY RAIL

Get train from Paisley Gilmour Street to Paisley St James – exit from the station is straight onto Greenhill Road where the stadium is facing you. To plan your journey by rail with Scotrail please click HERE.

    BY BUS

Most buses will stop at Paisley Cross or Mill Street, from both you will see the Paisley Town Hall. From the Town Hall cross the High Street towards the Piazza Shopping Centre, when acoss walk towards the town centre until you come to Gilmour Street. Turn right on to Gilmour Street and walk towards the railway station which is about 150 yards away. From there you can get train to Paisley St James or if you prefer to walk the following routes are advised by the police:

Home fans: cross road to the left on to St James Street – follow through up Underwood Road then turn right at Greenhill Road where stadium is 200 yards further along the road. Access to the Main Stand is from Greenhill Road and the South and West Stands will be accessed from Drums Avenue.

Away fans: cross road to Love Street continue up the street till you come to Albion Street where you will turn left. Follow Albion Street until you come to the junction with Greenock Road where you will turn right. Cross the road then walk about 200 yards before taking your first left on to Clark Street. Walk straight up Clark Street to the end of the street which is the junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and you will see the the stadium on the opposite side of the road. St Mirren FC Becomes First Officially Recognised Disability Friendly Football Club in Scotland

St Mirren Football Club is proud to announce significant progress in its ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Working in partnership with local charity I Am Me Scotland, the club is set to become the first officially recognised Disability Friendly football club in the country.

This achievement follows an independent accessibility review carried out with invaluable support from St Mirren fans. The review identified a number of improvements to enhance access and inclusion across the club. Since then, I Am Me Scotland has continued to support the newly formed St Mirren Disabled Supporters Association (SMDSA) as members begin implementing the report’s recommendations.

As part of this collaborative approach, SMDSA and I Am Me Scotland will host bi‑monthly drop‑in sessions at The SMiSA Stadium, offering all supporters the chance to share ideas and play an active role in shaping accessibility across the club.

The first session will take place on Friday 27th March at 1pm, with a focus on developing a new Guide Dog and Assistance Dog Policy for use across the stadium. Members of the SMDSA Board will also introduce their roles, gather feedback on priorities for future meetings, and welcome disabled supporters interested in joining and strengthening the group’s voice within St Mirren FC.

St Mirren FC remains committed to ensuring every supporter has the opportunity to help make the club as accessible, inclusive, and welcoming as possible.

Supporters wishing to attend the drop‑in session are invited to contact the I Am Me Scotland team at: iamme@renfrewshire.gov.uk

Form

St Mirren go into Sunday's match after securing their place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals last weekend. Goals from Dan Nlundulu and Jake Young saw the Buddies defeat Partick Thistle 2-1 at The SMiSA Stadium. That set up a last four trip to Hampden where we will face Celtic.

Rangers, meanwhile, were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Celtic last Sunday. A goalless 120 minutes had to be decided on penalties with Celtic prevailing 4-2 at Ibrox.

Saints are in 10th place in the William Hill Premiership and sit three points ahead of Kilmarnock who occupy the relegation play-off spot. Our last win in the league came at The SMiSA Stadium at the beginning of February when Miguel Freckleton's goal gave us a 1-0 victory over Hearts.

Danny Rohl's side sit third in the William Hill Premiership, six points behind league leaders Hearts and a point above second place Celtic. The Ibrox side have won only one of their last five matches in all competitions and drawn their last three away matches in league duty after draws with Livingston (2-2), Motherwell (1-1) and Hibernian (0-0).

Saints have won two, drawn two and lost one of our last five meetings with Rangers. Jonah Ayunga gave the Buddies the lead when the sides met at The SMiSA Stadium in August, but Findlay Curtis levelled for Rangers as the game finished 1-1. Rangers were victorious when the sides last faced at Ibrox in December. The Buddies pulled a late goal back through Mikael Mandron, but we were beaten 2-1.
